Really Ethan???? I'm a minority with pic. And no one is just giving me a pass based on skin color. This statement is way off base. We have to be equally as good, and often times better than our fair skinned brothers and sisters. Never thought I would hear this type of comment from you.

You know, as a WASP male I will admit that there's some truth to that, but at the same time having the family, female, or minority connection sometimes does help to open some doors. I've seen it more than a few times in the past, no doubt will see it again in the future. Not saying it's right, but saying it never happens would be a little ignorant.

What to take a guess out of all the last new hires at Delta with 0 TPIC how many where white male?

Zero and yes they had people with 0 TPIC in class. Just look at the boobs to no boobs ratio also.

Ain't that the truth. I couldn't get a call back from JetBlue a while back, but someone else I know with comparable qualifications certainly did. Guess they thought she'd look better in that cool blue uniform than I would.

Not true. At least one white male in my class had 0 TPIC. The whole myth surrounding white males and airline hiring is exactly that. Myth. I'll add that basically your entire post is false.
 
I completly agree that you have to meet what ever the skill set requirement is and nobody gets a pass due to gender or skin color. That said, actually getting an interview can be squewed by those things. At most companies resumes are not moved from the big pile to the little pile by flight time alone.
 
It is absolutely possible to go to a major or LCC with 0 TPIC. I know Spirit was hiring plenty of FOs with 0TPIC. At that time I imagine they were losing many of their FO's to better companies. By hiring pilots with less experience they improve the likelihood that they'll stick around longer and in the end save the company money.
 
I almost pretty much did that.

But before anyone pulls the minority card, among the regional pilots, I was one of the few with actual PIC time as captain.

No PIC requirement at the time either.

Ouch, that bites. I was looking at the Feb category list, not the latest AE. Although, I hear that the DC9 can be a fun plane to fly!

The DC9 has by far been the funnest airplane I have flown. It is a lot of work, but after a month or so, it is pretty easy.

Disagree all you'd like, but put it all out there, including the risks (major) vs. reward (minor) of the practice that you are recommending to unassuming pilots.

I would not be logging at a 121 airline unless I was the captain signing the manifest. Like train said, go ahead and do it, you'll have lots of fun sitting in the interview of your life trying to explain your reasoning.
