Who's Unemployed and Looking?

Seems to me we have many of us here in the JC family that are in need of a job. Be they currently unemployed (or severely in need of a job improvement) let's see what we can do for each other.

Post your name, your general location, your ratings held, and your current times and prior experience. Call it a mini-resume.

Maybe somebody out there has heard of a job that you might just be a good fit for, or vice versa. Maybe that we can be a little more direct and help folks get where they need to be.

(Beyond that, I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but identifying who's looking seems like the first step to improving the QOL for the community at large and helping some folks out.)

We also have quite an extensive Jobs Available section that is open to members only.

That said, while I'm sure all of us on this site are looking for aviation industry specific jobs (if not flying jobs), there ARE jobs out there. Be aggressive and you may be surprised at your results for employment, if even temporary.

Not exactly unemployed, but definitely looking.

Currently fly part 135 freight in a single engine piston, with no real prospect of moving into anything better. I'd love to fly corporate or fractional, however the airlines appeal as well - in particular Eagle. I live in Addison and would prefer to stay Dallas-based, but would consider relocating for the right job.

I meet all the requirements for the ATP, and I am about to start working on the rating in the next couple of weeks.

Left a good job in Bakersfield last April to move back to Denver so I could breathe, been looking for full-time since then. Currently CFI part time.

Interview with a 121 carrier on Thursday and for a 135 charter gig Friday. Woo hoo!

Definitely true! And I'll add to that stay positive regardless. Because when you spend day in day out looking for work, any work, for months and nothing happens, or maybe you get an interview and then never hear a peep, it chips away at your confidence. Attitude is everything. Companies have the luxury of being uber-selective and any way to get a leg up on the next guy helps immensely. So bravo Firebird.

And anyone looking for some CFI work in Denver let me know; I should be able to help you out.

I am not unemployed but I am definitely looking. I am coming up on 4 years as a CFI in FL, I would like to stay in the southeast if possible. I have applied for a lot of 121 and 135 jobs but have heard nothing yet.

Unemployed and looking. I'm in a tough situation though. My wife is pregnant, and I had to turn down an offer because she is. It was a good one too, just not good enough to keep my family together. She needs her job for the health bennies right now, or I need one that pays well enough to support a family. I couldn't justify being away from her by choice at a time when she and my family is going to need me the most. So I am trying to stay as local to the area as possible. That would be SoCal.

Anyone ever used indeed.com to look for jobs? A friend of mine just told me about it the other day. Maybe its old news but if you have not checked it out yet give it a try.

That's the spirit, everybody.

In the meantime...

The other day I was in BRO coming back from a surfing trip and I had a little time to kill. I walked down to the local FBOs and poked around a little to see if there was anybody hiring. I got a few helpful comments and a few possible leads to poke around for a small operator I'd never heard of before. Maybe if we all did that from time to time we could dig something up and pass it along to someone who could use it.

In other words- it's a big world, and we can't each individually shake all the hands and beat all the streets, but collectively, we can. YMMV.

I'm not unemployed, but my flying is seasonal and I would like to get secure job in / around the Detroit metro area.

I heard from someone who interviewed at Eagle that they just lowered their mins to 800/100. Also check out Air Wisconsin.

Isnt USA Jet based near Detroit?

I assume based on this post and your earlier posted qualifications that you dont quite understand the system. Speaking of which, what is your turbine time in? A small king air? PIC? That probably wont land you a job and will instead invite some systems questions when you do interview somewhere. At 460 hours, I'd say get your CFI.

A good friend of mine just became a recruiter for Eagle and he should be getting back to me in a week or two. I don't know if the airlines is the right place for me, though.

I'm far from the USA Jet mins and Kalitta for that matter.

Care to elaborate? Send me a PM Im not quite sure what I missed about the "system". Yea CFI is on the list, just lacking funds at the moment.

I've been looking for far too long.

Live in Denver, worked for 3 different charter companies (lay offs SUCK!), done the freight dogging before that.
Just got a Master's degree in psychology. Really hate that I let my CFI/CFII expire. Don't want to leave Colorado, but will if the right thing comes along.
