If you could own an airplane.....

The Mooney Acclaim made a big splash a few years ago for being a piston single with turboprop-like performance. That might be nice to have.

If I'm buying for transportation, though, speed is where it's at. Give me economical speed over anything else. For fun? Why pick one? If I had that kinda coin to drop I'd just rent whatever amused me that particular day. Life's too short to settle. :)

If I had to have any one airplane, I'd pick that. Hoooooooooo boy! Socata did a fantastic job on that one. (700B and C too.)

If I was flush with cash, I would certainly have a TBM 850 equipped with the ultra-cool pilot door. I doubt I'll ever have that much money, and I currently don't have that much money to complain about the price, but man they sure charge a bunch for those planes. They're not far away from the price ranges of the King Airs.
 
I would love a SR22 for the family. Great cross country airplane. I really enjoyed flying in on cross countries.
 
This would be my hangar if I was super loaded:

1. A Cessna 310Q for X-C flying.
2. A Cessna 150 for my freelance on the side instruction business.(IMO the best way to stay current on knowledge and flying is to teach)
3. A Cessna 140 for fun flying (if I could fit in one of those, I'm 6'2", but only 155 lbs...)

One can dream...
 
Turbine Duke, hands down. This is my choice if we are being on the realistic side of things. If we weren't being realistic then I'd want a Sino Swearengin SJ30-2

Cessna Grand Caravan!

Won't get anywhere fast but you can load it full and enjoy the ride.................
 
Oh if i could dream! A p51 and an F4U. Something that I may actually reach one day. An A36 Bonanza and maybe a Super decathalon or a pitts for fun.
 
Some sort of homebuilt bird, most likely powered by a Mazda rotary engine of some sort. 4 seats, decent cruise speed, and decent load are all I'd need.

Beyond that, an Aerocomp CompAir 10 or an Antonov AN-2.

I seriously plan on building a RV-7.

If I won the lotto, I'd add a King Air 90 for hauling the family around, and a F4U for flying to airshows.

Also true. The maintenance facility is in my backyard and I've managed to score a few legs in the straight 700s. Never been in an 850 that actually went flying ("oops, that's broken, we're going back" -> FFFFFFUUUUU- )
 
1.) King Air 350i for hauling the family and friends. (just have to get the type rating - I hate checkrides)
2.) Aircam for goofing off, flying low+slow, annoying the neighbors and going out to the islands in the summer.
3.) One of those new whiz-bang Twin otters (amphib) for my new secret airline.
