Logbook pages-do you enter crew names?

I'm exploring ways to improve how my logbook appears, and am curious, do most people have the names of the other pilot in their logbook? Not your crew logs, but your master logbook that you would take with you to an interview.

I use an electronic logbook so I can just select whether or not to print a specific data column, but adding crew names really makes the page look crowded. I know there isn't a requirement for it, just curious what others do.

Not usually...on IOE/OE trips, I did...but otherwise, unless I really liked the crew or absolutely hated them, then nothing gets written down. Only flights operated go into the actual Remarks section, as I log each entry per N# flown.

I did, but using an electronic logbook it is easy to do. Now that I am flying solo I enter how many pounds of freight, the percentage bulk and if I bought fuel on that leg and the invoice number. For example (1750lbs/65% 100gal 129108).

I also log per leg, but I only fly 2 legs a day so it isn't as bad as some regional flying.

Using logbookpro and the iPhone logbook pro program, I made a column for Captain and Flight Attendant. It takes 2 seconds to enter a name, and with the iPhone remembering the last input, the names stay in there until I change crews.

It's interesting to pull a chart and see who you have flown with the most.

Never did. Just put the pairing number. Not really sure why I did that, but I did.

..and I only log by the day. Put in the first N# I flew.

Sometimes simplicity is king.

I normally put the name of the other pilot and the approach flown if it was my leg. I'll also put notes down if there is something odd about the flight like a divert or a line check.

The only thing I put in the remarks are the flight numbers, names of approaches, and names of holding fixes (if an instrument approach and/or a hold were conducted on my legs).

Not an airline pilot, but I always log the name of the WSO I flew with (in the F-15) or the student I flew with (in the T-38). Doesn't take that many electrons up, and it's a great reference later on in life.

Paul,

I use www.myonlinelogbook.com and have since I upgraded. It actually logs in and captures the information directly from CCS and imports it right into my logbook. As a result, I have every crew member's name and every pairing number from each trip. I don't plan on changing it for an interview... but the program does allow me to remove those columns if I want to.

I don't log flight numbers, I do however log the CA's name. I have no reason to log the FA's name.

Same here. I used myonlinelogbook + logbook pro and every trip has the CA's name on it. I like it, so I'll leave it in there.

I do the same. I don't think it matters either way but for aesthetic value I try to keep everything consistent.

That's what I'm considering. I've been using CCS Logbook for years and like it-the crew name data is there-but I'm looking at how it is printed. My goal is to get it to look right when printed landscape on a letter size page, and including crew names makes it look way to crowded. Spreading it out over a two-page spread is too sparse. I may try legal size landscape, but finding a binder that size might be difficult.

How do you guys (Bob & Clocks) print out the logbook? Do you do it on one page, or over two?

I spread it out over two pages and it looks pretty good... in fact, if you look on the "Reports" page, the examples given under the "hint" are actual pics of my logbook that I printed out for upgrade.

Heck... I'll just post it here:

Printing Tip: Take the generated .pdf file to Kinko's. Print on ledger-green paper - b&w both sides ($.19/pg). Cut the blank at bottom off. One color front-page - created by you ($.89). Translucent cover ($1.49). Spriral bound ($4.99). Impression at interview? Priceless!
