Pay raise today

According to the CJC ALPA Facebook status update 20 minutes ago, the scheduling section has a TA.

Good news if that's the case. That's a huge section to get done. That's probably the section I am most interested in considering I'll be on reserve for the next 30 years.

Yeah, I didn't see it on there either, but I just saw one of my reps here in the crewroom...he confirmed it-Scheduling section was completed this morning

So that leave us with:

Section 2 (Definitions) – On hold for negotiations wrap up.

· Section 3 (Compensation) - Pay rates, pay rate escalators, cancellation pay, premium pay, minimum day pay (including reserve), training pay, and instructor pay remain open.

· Section 4 (Guarantee) - Value of a pro-rated day is open.

· Section 5 (Expenses) – Timing for company paid taxi transportation is open.

· Section 7 (Vacation) - Vacation slide and vacation pay/schedule value are open.

· Section 27 (Insurance) – Medical plan control/cost sharing and deductibles are open.

· Section 28 (Retirement) – An agreement has been reached on the structure of this section but the agreement is attached to contingencies on section 27.

· Section 31 (Duration) – Conceptual agreement has been made but the section will remain open until other issues are resolved.

* Dual Qualification – No agreements on any part of dual qual has been made.

If they get Section 7 and 27 done in the next day or two, I could see this being done by Friday evening. Those are gonna be the biggest sticking points. With Sec 25 down, they have more of an idea what impact Sec 3, 4 and 5 will have. Duration is gonna depend on how good the overall deal is, so once those are out of the way, I'd expect the remaining sections to drop right in. Here's hoping we don't see a "Well.....now that that's over, how about this dual qual thing?" Again.

what about reserves who are extended into their day off? is that 200% or 150%. do you only get a comp day if you go below 10 days off even though the min days off is 11?

Latest update:

JNC Update December 16, 2010

The JNC has been in negotiations again this week, and is pleased to report that we have reached a TA on Section 25 -- Scheduling. This section is a large hurdle in any negotiation and brought particular challenges to these negotiations as we are combining three separate systems. The JNC feels that the effort put into Section 25 has resulted in an overall system that respects quality of life, safety, and seniority. This system will require appropriate staffing. ALPA’s Scheduling Committee will have a proactive role in making this system work for pilots. Our trained volunteers will construct pairings as well as run PBS line solutions.

Some more highlights include:

·200% pay for any Junior Assignment (JA) on a day off, along with strong compensatory day provisions. The company is limited to two (2) JA events per month (max of three duty periods), eight (8) duty periods per year and no pilot will be reduced below 10 days off without their consent. In addition, a pilot will have the ability to refuse a Junior Assignment at one time per month and three times per year. The company must also use all in domicile and out of domicile reserves prior to junior assigning any pilot.

·150% pay for Extensions and Junior Assignments that occur on a day of work. An Extension is defined as additional flying that is scheduled to be completed no later than three (3) hours following the end of the trip hour period. The pay begins with the leg that touches the first hour after the end of the pilot’s original trip hour period. After three (3) hours, in order to be required to perform additional flying, the pilot must be the junior available pilot. Pilots will also have the ability to refuse extensions at one (1) time per month and three (3) times total per year.

·Long Call Reserve lines will be constructed to include, at a minimum, 15% of reserve lines in all positions that have eight (8) reserve lines or more.

·Meaningful limitations to Ready Reserve periods, assignments, and escalation, including additional pay for same day escalation over guarantee.

Negotiations continue on the remaining items in Section 3 -- Compensation, 7 -- Vacation, and 27 -- Insurance. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Who knows. The "executive summary" the JNC sent out leaves a lot of questions. Are min days off 10 or 11? If they're 11, is the company getting one for free from you? Is there language to keep an "extension" from being called a "schedule change" by DW? What exactly is "strong comp day language?" Will there be transparecny to make sure they have exhausted every reserve before JA? What are the ready reserve rules they mention? Can line holders now be extended into a day off? If you refuse an extension or JA in Jan, Feb and Mar, do they have you nailed for the rest of the year since you've already refused 3 for the year?

Although this little tidbit:

May help us out a LOT.....

They agreed on 11 days off across the board a while back :( Air wisconsin has 12, so why cant we?

I kinda like the way jetBlue does it (ya, like anyone is surprised by THAT :) ). You work for 18 days a month. So, on 30 day months, you get 12 days off. On 31 day months you get 13. But, 9E isn't jetBlue. Hell, it isn't even Air Whisky.

Yeah, I know, and I also know its not good to get hung up on ONE issue in a contract, but as someone that is upgrading to Captain and may be on reserve (right on the cusp of holding a line), the 12 day off thing is HUGE to me. That's the difference of a block of 2 or a block of 3 days off at a time, which is big for quality of life on reserve. I have friends at AWAC and them being on reserve is basically the same as holding a junior line at Colgan. At least I'll be based at home and no longer commuting :rawk:

I see other forums talking about 4 hour min guarantee, but I dont see it listed as a highlight on the fastread. Is it in another FR??

I would have thought that would be a listed highlight.

That's a big one for Mesaba. When we started this PBS nonsense the company ran the solutions. It was miserable for the line guys except for the top 3-7. With our guys running the solutions it's a night and day difference. We've wanted to run the pairings too, but the company said no.

Can't tell you how excited I am about us continuing to run the solutions, however, I know our guys weren't messing with this. They'd have 80-400 guys at each base ready to shiv them in the back. I'd be shocked if we didn't keep running it our way.

The one they sent out was just on Sec 25. I think the 4 hour min might be associated with Sec 3, which is still open. I have a feeling if there's no 4 hour min day, this thing would be dead in the water.
