Great Lakes hiring F/Os

Should you really announce you're going to the interview "just for practice" since you have interviews at Colgan and AE coming up? There has to be a good interview prep for half what it will cost to go out there.

Doesnt mean I will get jobs with Eagle nd Colgan and not take Lakes either. I have pass bennys on UAL/CAL so it will cost me under 100 all together to go out there.

you can get interview experience on APC?? I have never interviewed for a flying job before, got my jumper gig basically handed to me because I already knew everyone there. I learned a ton at this interview, and I still am not sure that I would not take the job if offered. I just am really really hoping for Eagle, it works out best for what I need and saves me a move most likely. I have all the gouges, still can not prepare you for being under the spot light.

1 of my friends got hired from the 17th... it is what it is The place isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I was fortunate with timing and upgraded in one year and 8 months shortly after turning 23...no where else could I have done that and now I'm flying roughly 90-100 hoursper month.the pilots here are awesome and the flying is a blast, very glad I came here instead of being furloughed from another regional that I had an opportunity to go to a couple years back.

What is that for you? 29 bucks an hour?

I'm probably :deadhorse: but still... see below. That's the only thing I know of that's "bad" there. How many years does it take to make the $51.84/hour I get as a 1st year F/O?

Congrats on the quick upgrade tho... Our DA-20 upgrade is running 1.5-2 years. 3-4 years for DC-9 CA.

Would be nice to work at your company. From what I can tell they aren't hiring and that is the difference. Now with the other better paying airlines out there I personally would not go to great lakes, but some people succeed in their quest for the "quick upgrade". It is a risk I am not willing to take right now as QOL is more important to me.

Any word on their contract negotiations? Just a month ago there was word things "might" get better... now all is quiet? I get a feeling this is probably bad...

That said the starting pay of less than $20/hr and not being paid during training is the deal breaker for me!

Agreed. Quick upgrade is at best a big gamble and at worst, a trap. QOL is almost everything.

And we are hiring. Even when we're not, we are.;) The "we're not hiring anymore" phases last a couple of weeks and are replaced by "holy crap, we need bodies NOW!" 1250TT and 750ME will get you into the Falcon. 2000TT, 1200ME and jet time will get you into the DC-9. It's not a job for everyone though. We don't work all that much, but when we do, we work our asses off.

People will still take the job at lakes when they cant get a job anywhere else, and currently are making less than 15k/yr because they are paid on a per flight basis.

And I can apply where? haha

Sigh... I know.

BTW-1st year pay at lakes is $14,400. (16x75x12) 2nd year you'll be rockin' 16K. Good luck.
