New Job

The State of Connecticut offered and I happily accepted a new job as the Supervisory Flight Instructor and Flight Operations Officer for the CT National Guard. This is something I've been working on for a few months now and am shocked and honored I was selected for the position. This is my dream job - seriously - if I could have written my perfect job description of what I wanted to do in the Army, this would be it.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me through this weird "in the Army, out of the Army, flying, not flying" roller-coaster I've been on through the last couple of years. Feel like I finally found a home.

Congrats!

But just know that "Army" and "Dream Job" are oxymorons. :D

And tell Kris to get prepped for taking over the wives club.

So...now that I have a friend in a high place, I'd like you to work on the following:

1) Get the age restriction waived for me to fly. I'm 41 so make it so I can learn to fly helicopters.
2) Get the physical requirements waived so I can fly with my cochlear implants. It is discrimination not to let the deaf fly combat helicopters.
3) I'd like to go in as a "Captain" if possible. I'd do anything, but I'd really like Captain.
4) I don't like to run. Can you waive that somehow?

Thanks Ian - let me know when to arrive in CT. Southwest goes to Hartford I think, so I'll need a ride. I'm planning on staying on you and SC's couch.

Thanks guys!

@ Mike - she only needs to fight that off for my part time job. ;)

@ Waco - you got it buddy - I'll start working on your waiver packet and you're welcome on my couch any time. (Serious on that last part.)

All others - thanks!

Isn't a wire diagram worth more than a 1000 words?

Excellent! Now show up for my next checkride and take the oral part for me.

It'll be worth a steak for you.

The entire summation of that long-ass wire chart was "The Backup Pump comes on, the crewchief knows he's going to have a late night."

Congrats, Ian. Although frankly I dunno why you were surprised to get the gig. Anything you spent months working on must surely amount to a done deal. I'd never say otherwise.

So congrats, mang. Nice to see somebody who worked hard for something get what they've been after.

Congrats Ian. Hey can you get me a C12 job? :) screw Jim.

DUUUUUDE! This is a disaster because YOU were the other friend in high places I know...and you're yourself out to Ian to fly a King Air! This sucks. All I'll have left is Bumblebee.

Now I have to start being nice to Doug.

Congrats brotha! :)

The area above the Taylor compound is always clear for a slow hover!
