I know this is probably not even possible, but is there any Colgan or Expressjet pilots that have a employee parking pass at Newark that they are not using? I commute out of Newark and because our airline is not based there, we don't get employee parking. So everytime I leave on a 4 or 5 day stretch, I have to pay 10 buxs a day to park. I know this is kinda shady of me for asking, but I would appreciate it. I will pay whatever you would want for it, even include a case of beer.

Parking at ewr is more than just a hang tag, you get 2 hang tags, but only 1 rfid card, and you enter/exits are logged... you can't enter 2x, or exit 2x . there must be an exit for every entrance. I know for Colgan, if you are not parking at ewr, they will pay your parking at your home airport, so you will not get an ewr parking pass.

we should have a parking pool, and each person trade for their commute airport....It was stupid that I couldn't get a pass for the airport I commuted from...we tried to fix it for all of our pilots, but the company was able to increase profits on the backs of the folks that commute and let them assume the financial burden of parking. Fortunately, I don't need to worry about that right now.

Some airports, like DEN, you can pay for the employee parking pass yourself. Its pretty cheap at DEN as far as things go, you just either need a DEN SIDA or a letter on company letterhead asking for it. Does something like this exist at EWR?

have you considered just taking the train to the airport? If you live in New York/ NJ public transit should be nearby. I know its not as convinent however $10/day really adds up and public transportation is great on the east coast. If you can't get a pass I would just consider taking the trains/buses.

Yea, I actually did that when I first started commuting. But most times I would get in late at nite and either the trains were not running or someone would have to drive up and pick me up. Oh well, guess it's the price you pay for commuting. Wish the port authority wasn't so anal about the employee parking situation. Thanks for all the replies. I think I found a hotel that will let me park there for 5 buxs a day. Better than 10 buxs, or even 18 buxs for long term parking at the aiport.

Sorry but what is anal about not letting employees do something that is blatantly dishonest as you were originally suggesting? Most airlines would consider what you are suggesting grounds for revoking an employee's parking pass or even worse. Just saying.
The only reason why I originally posted this question was because several years ago I was reading the expressjet pilots forum and a few of their pilots were talking about exchanging parking passes. Granted that was 5 years ago, didn't realize you had to go through all the hoops to get a parking pass. And about the anal part, I was refering to the port authority not opening up employee parking to non newark based employees.

No worries. Ever since the new company managing the lot took over the enforcement has increased. I really posted more so to help warn people than anything else.
If I were you I'd talk to the EWR station manager for your airline. They might be able to help.
