Glasses

Does anyone have any suggestions for glasses frames that will hold up to the constant squeezing from headsets? My current frames didn't hold up very well; they're all kinds of warped and bent up. I'm looking for brands specifically. Thanks for any help!

Are you wearing a DC?

It does not really matter what is the brand but the size and the fit on your head, you have to get them that the temples stay close to the side of your head, without a gap, so there is no space for bending. If you want something that will keep up to a lot of squeezing look for frames made out of titanium (in the military I use to wear Nikons they held up to all sort of beating, I would wear them under the gas mask too).

I only wear glasses at night when flying, during the day no matter if there is sun or not I wear my Serengetis Aviators, they seem doing fine with the Bose X

I've worn these for about a year now: http://www.framesdirect.com/framesfp/Ray-Ban_RX-lcndmb/r.html

I wore them with a Bose X headset, and they were just fine. Very low profile.

Oakleys have always treated me well. I'll second the Serengeti recommendation too...they seemed very sturdy, and the lenses were incredible. I had to return them because they didn't fit my face, but if I could have kept them I would have in a heartbeat. Easily the best optics I've seen.

Those BCGs the military uses seem like they would be pretty sturdy.

That's really been the issue. The earpiece behind my ear squeezes my head to death and the frame portion over the temple is bowed away from my head. The frames didn't start that way, though.

Thanks everyone for your input! I do in fact have the Bose X's as well. It's been a slow and painful process to watch my frames get warped and I'm finally sick of them. I very much like the look of the Ray Bans Dasleben suggested. But I think I'll have to go with Minuteman's suggestion. Too much incredible style there to pass up!

On a slightly more serious note, I always figured that the Randolph Aviators (et al) with the bayonet earpieces were literally designed to solve the problem of headsets and glasses, and it's just a matter of choosing the size that is most-compatible with the gourd clamp.

I wear a pair of Nike frames. I've never had any issues with them getting bent or anything due to my headset. Granted, they are close to the temple and are made of essentially plastic, so its tough to put a permanent bend in them.

Try VedaloHD Azzuro2. Very thin frame prescription sunglasses. They stay put and with no play. Highly expensive though.

The lowest profile glasses I have ever dealt with are made by Silhouette. http://www.silhouette.com/#/eyewear/all_models You can put any shape of lens in these, and the temples are very thin along the ear. I loved these with my headset when I wore glasses. They look flimsy, but are very strong.

I'll second this brand. I've owned two different pairs from them both titanium and were the best quality and lightest frames I've ever had. only problem is they are usually stupid expensive and only available in the highest end boutique eyeglass places which is why i always got mine made in Houston by framesdirect.

Awesome! Their website says that there are a few places very close to my house that sell them. I'll have to check them out! Should my wallet start hurting already?

They are not cheap. I do not know if you have vision insurance, or not. There is a plus side to the investment. People recycle them all the time. When it is time for new lenses, you can change the shape, and keep the frame for the next pair. No glasses are cheap. Word of warning to all. Be very careful when it comes to online glasses purchases. I have seen some real winners come into the shop.
