What's up with the yoke being handed over after and before taxiing? Do they both get to fly, just trade off flights?

Nosewheel steering is only available for the left-seater. On take-off roll, the right-seater takes the yoke and applies wind correction until the rudder becomes effective and nosewheel steering is no longer needed (around 70kts for us). At that point, (if it's his/hers take-off) the yoke is transfered back to the left-seater for take-off.

Same applies after landing when nosewheel steering is needed, the co-pilot takes or keeps control of the yoke while the pilot taxis.
