Crj 1000

I was reading about CRJ's and found out that there is a 100 seater called the CRJ 1000. Do you guys think this will be a popular airplane among US carriers? I've noticed a few foreign carriers have already placed orders for them. I'm not too versed in the legal mumbo jumbo between regionals and larger carriers but it's my understanding that a regional cannot operate an airplane with 100 seats or more even if they plan to only use or sell 99 or less?

How many seats and aircraft can hold at a regional is only dictated by scope. Hence the reason why republic runs 99 seat versions of ERJ-190s.

As far as the CRJ 1000, I believe it ended up being a let down as it was supposed to be a fuel saver but only worked that way in a very specific scenario.

My belief is that they will get the CRJ type planes up to 130 passengers. A hundred seater airplane does have a place in the US market.

100 seat airplane is not a regional jet, sorry. Also going halfway across the country is not a regional either. But that's a whole other discussion...

I've seen the prototype flying about a year ago at KICT. With the C series, and the issues it would have in the states, I don't know if it would be successful.

Was just checking out Bombardiers website and noticed they dont make the 200 series anymore. When did they do this? I knew they arent necessarily the most profitable aircraft right now but it seemed to be the staple of the CRJ family; I didnt think they'd ever put her down.

I think they stopped making them back in 2005.

There are crap tons of the things out in the desert, so why keep making them new when operators can get them for pennies on the dollar when compared to a new plane?

The EMB-145 is out of production also. The Legacy is still being produced, which as I understand it uses the same tooling as the EMB-145XR, but they're not making any more EMB-145's, nor do I expect anybody to continue to make them.

The airlines will ride out what they have, and when it becomes too costly to fix them, they'll retire them and replace them with 70+ seat aircraft.

I agree 100%.. I am sorry a 3+ hr leg in RJ is a joke. i couldn't even feel my legs at the end.

They will give it a go until they can't with the airframe and get something new. I wish they would have kept the 145XR in production. The legacy is based off the 135 actually with extra tanks. That's how it works. At least they have the 170 to sell.

The 145 is not out of production, if you place an order they will build it, a Brazilian regional carrier just placed some orders.

FAB (Brazilian air force) has orders for the EMB-145RS
Tianjin Airlines has 6 on order
The Indian Govt also ordered 3 145s

They had to put aside a bit the production due to the giant orders of 175s and 190s

Really? Rumor is over at our company that they were uninterested in producing any more EMB-145's, but they were happy to sell us 170's (we had options for an additional 100 XR's).

The Legacy is a -135XR, which is why I said the -145XR tooling. I don't think there's a difference between the Legacy and a -145 XR except for fuselage length. It's got XR wings, XR engines and the XR fuel system.

I'd really love to fly one, actually, it's gotta be a rocket. The -135 was already a sporty little plane compared to the -145 models, so I'd love to see it with a bigger wing, lighter weight and bigger engines.

LOL......I guess "sporty" is a relative term. :D

Sounds like you'd love to fly the 700 in IAH with us :)
