Offered Job w/ Regional!

Just offered a job with a regional. Just curious what the state of the industry is. I am a former regional pilot who was furloughed a few years back, went back to my old dept. and am making way more money then I would flying. My question is for the guys who are flying(with an airline) how are things looking for the future? My biggest fear is to go back and get furloughed, giving up my 60K+ a year job only to have nothing again.. Your thoughts please, I am not sure how long I can stall my acceptance..

I was on well over 130k Euro a few years back prior to moving back to the U.S., and I just finished up my initial training yesterday.

Money is not the be all end all, just don't do something you can't afford for the sake of chasing a dream, but by all means do what you enjoy.
 
Stay away from airlines and aircraft. Obviously you need people help you decide. Last thing we want in a cockpit.

I dont get how you can equate someone asking for advice/ opinions on the future with being indecisive in the cockpit.
 
No one here is Nostradamus except Triple7. Where's he been by the way?

With that said, I'm torn. Do what you want and feel is best. I guarantee whichever choice you make, you'll be able to look back and say "I made a great choice" or "I made a bad choice." No one knows your situation better than you.

Sorry for the mediocre, at best, advice.

Perhaps he forgot the sarcasm tag, or he could be a raving D-bag. 6 of one have dozen of the other. I choose to think he was being sarcastic.
 
I'd say if you can afford it, and it is one of the good regionals, I would go for it. We're at the beginning of the upswing and nows the time to get in. I plan on never going to the majors, just getting that seniority at a regional and then maybe move into management once the thrill has warn off. It is an industry in which you have to love flying because it takes time to make any money at it.

Meh. I tried. I'm young. Dumb. And full of cu.......Anywho, lost my train of thought. Lots to learn. You're right though. Either choice, for better or for worse, will be viewed as, for better or for worse. And most likely both. Better in some, worse in others. It's all in how you view it.

:yeahthat: You know what you want man! You are lucky to have a choice, most of us don't. And if we do we can't bear the thought of not being able to fly so we do it anyway! Do what you think is best for you. I think that if you are looking to get back into the 121 world and have to ask though, you probably should stay where you are at and rent an airplane to have fun in, maybe even flight instruct of the side.
