Pilots will be exempted from screening?

the public is going to go mad over this.

everyone's point of view is: I'm a frequent flyer and I have to go through it why shouldn't they?

it's DUMB. They don't understand that they don't have to go through this crap to go to work. Unless they work in a government building, and even then it's not nearly anything like TSA

Watching fox news and they confirm the news. A lot of bad press and pressure on TSA all morning.

Interview with Israeli airport security advisor on Fox News was great. Nice to see common sense arguments as he called us out as providing only 'illusion' of security. It is worth looking up the interview with Shepard Smith on Fox News if they post it online later. Perhaps all this grief lately will be the wake up call we need to actually do something proactive about security. Cargo screening, actually interviewing passengers, profiling.... when will common sense prevail?
 
And just to be clear regarding my comment on profiling; Was it a one way ticket? Does your passport show unfriendly countries? Did you pay cash? This is more what I was getting at. I don't want to offend anyone on Friday, that can wait until Monday!

With those criteria, I would have been subjected to profiling last time I went home. I missed my Delta flight, and walked up to Jetblue to get home. The only thing I did not do was pay cash...and all it was was a pilot getting home!

Not to throw a wet blanket over the fire but US airport security, Israeli airport security and El Al operational security are three separate things.
 
Before we get to excited...Ive read that this exemption will only cover us while in uniform ON A WORK ASSIGNMENT....so sounds like we stil get the Grope when we are commuting to work every week.
 
The pilots concern was not about dignity, but was about safety of these devices - therefore the TSA has basically said yes they are unsafe, or minimally we are not sure if they are safe.

Well, I got out of the hotel van, up the escaltor and was going to head to an otherwise completely empty line. I was advised that it was the frequent flyer lane and how they raised a stink about flight crews going through "their" area and I've got to go up another escalator to the checkpoint for the general public.

Or something like that, I can't remember that well.

Yeah I know where you're talking about. That terminal has like 50 floors on it, but you can really only go through security on floors 2, 9 and 34 on Tuesdays where there is a full moon, and then you can go through security on floors, 1, 3 and 49 on every other Thursday while the annual werewolf chase is going on.

They really don't have any idea of what they're doing and it shows.

Even so, the fact that we are getting an exemption is a major step in the right direction.

You could just travel in uniform, how is the TSA to know if you are commuting or not.
