New Hire at Ameriflight

Things are usually pretty cool, then most guys get their butts handed to them for the first sim or two. Then things settle down and and things are cool until you hit the airplane. Then they REALLY get their butts handed to them.

After maybe 2 flights things are cool again, and you're on your way.

Projecting your personal experience on other people, are ya? :D

I thought the whole we're going to rape you with knowledge process was over promised and under delivered.

Not even close! I failed all the sims, every training gate and three checkrides before I finally passed.

:)

I still remember you in the back seat on the sim shutting everything down on me. I think I ended up a single engine, partial panel, ndb approach without the gear down into Long Beach below mins and your ass face was laughing at me.

I only did that to guys that I couldn't rattle somehow. Most guys have something that they're weak on, be it NDB approaches, single engine procedures, etc. I'd rather know what they fall apart with and train that to proficiency than waste time blasting around doing VOR approaches when the trainee can do them blind folded.

You turned out to be one of the guys I couldn't rattle with much of anything.

Yeah, I heard its going to be more interactive powerpoints and less old school over head projectors. I was talking with the Dir. of Training the other day and it sounds like it will be a very good program.

Yeah quite a few powerpoints, it's been pretty interesting for the most part. Bob is very animated, but not angry. He's actually pretty entertaining. We've also had several different folks in there to teach class.

Anyone care to send me "the flows" for the Chieftain?

It's an amazingly simple airplane, I'm just curious to see what another operator is teaching/using

Is he just high strung, or gets that way with "stupid" questions (stupid in his eyes, not that they really are per se)??

I've never heard Bob scream, and he did my Chieftain checkride. The two rules of indoc are:
1. Follow Bobs rules exactly
2. Let your classmates ask the stupid questions

You'll do great! Good luck!

I did my check ride with Bob also. He was actually really laid back and easy going.

I dont know where or how all these rumors of BS screaming in BUR come from... He is slight eccentric during ground school, but he never screams at anyone, and was especially cool in the sim and the airplane. Cool guy once you get over the personality. There is really a method to his teaching style. He has a lot to teach, and I think does a pretty good job covering everything in such a short time.

So no one is will to divulge a closely guarded secret of the "chieftain flows"??

Do you check the landing gear position and lights after landing?
