Does anyone know if the airlines look at MV-22 time as fixed wing time or strictly helo time?
thanks
Its really neither, in terms of the FAA and 14 CFR 61. It's considered by the FAA to be "Powered Lift", in terms of Category; as opposed to "Airplane" or "Rotorcraft". Now, how airlines look at it I'm not exactly sure, though I'd think it could go either way. I don't believe thats ever been addressed though, as anyone flying the V-22 probably hasnt come out of the service yet for the airlines. Good question though.
I remember talking to an MV-22 pilot that was going to try the airline thing. He said he counted vertical time as "Rotorcraft" and en route flight as "Airplane - Multi engine land"
Guess it's different flavors for everyone - but I imagine there are some Harrier pilots that made it to the airlines - what did they do?
I heard from a semi reliable source that it was counted as rotorcraft time. But that was assumed from the fact that a guy who flew them in the military took a test and had his commercial rotorcraft. He required some "training" to get his commercial fixed wing
