American Airlines to recall 250 pilots

Hey lets argue about the wonderful news!

Good news for everyone, that's all that matters.

The bubble in the FO side of the seniority list gave way a bit in the last two upgrade bids- we saw upgrades drop to around 7 years. Personally, I think a certain someone we all know and love (who REALLY likes eggs!) may be seeing upgrade very soon. :)
We shall see. May not be in 2011...but possibly 2012 if things keep moving. Either way, that will put me around the 6 year mark from New Hire to Upgrade.

Fingers crossed.

(Oh...BTW: Mods, I posted this exact thread in the Career Specific section before I saw this one. Sorry.)

Yepee... I may return to Eagle able to hold a captain seat! I will return in 3 more years and be right under 7 years seniority. Either way, I will return as an FO to get my head back in the game while also enjoying the QOL by being at the top of the FO seniority list for the first year before I bid a CA seat.

Note to all those looking for a place to apply: Eagle has lots of potenial on the up side in the next few years.

It won't be a moment too soon, that's for sure. Here's to hoping, eh?

Well, without commenting on the pie in the sky, I will say y'all are about due for a slice.

Damned straight.

Got the 411 from the Union office today, and it looks like 110 AA pilots that were furloughed in February 2010 have first right of recall per the last Arbitrator ruling.

After that, barring previously deferred recalls (that by right can come back anytime a recall is issued because of greater seniority) that means the remaining 140 pilots going to AA should come from Eagle, by right of Arbitration.

Considering we're short Captains already, that oughta mean at least 140 or so new Captains over the next year or so. Hopefully.

Or American gets rid of E135/145s and makes AE an ATR and a CRJ700 operation only... Then you wont have a need for any pilots and might even be overstaffed....

PS... Not hoping this for anyone. But we all know how quickly things change. It is a start. And the whole AA furlough/recall item is a hot button. Seeing a lot of very JUNIOR AE guys celebrate on the forum is nearly sickening... Considering those furloughed from AA are going on damn near 10 years in some cases......

The junior AA guys are celebrating because senior captains will likely flow, creating movement for the rest of us. Those captains were awarded seniority numbers prior to the furloughees still on the street- and by right of seniority will exercise recall in seniority order. Besides, the guys furloughed aren't exactly all camping in a shanty town behind the AMR Flight Academy. Most have been gainfully employed elsewhere at other aviation pursuits or in other fields. Hence the 1 in 10 recall acceptance rate during the last recalls.

So why is this sickening? Movement to recall at AA is going by APA seniority list order, as it should. This has a secondary result of movement at Eagle.

Park the Embraer fleet? Unlikely. Eagle's fleet composition is based on APA scope limitations. We could never field enough CRJ-700s to replace the lost lift capacity. Not to mention- many junior Eagle pilots were prevented from achieving Captain at Eagle because APA pilots elected to flow BACK into our most lucrative Captain seats with 'super seniority'. It's a complicated event that has a lot of to with former APA strikes in the 90's, the resulting agreements, and countless rounds of arbitration.

You speak of things you do not understand. Go bother somebody else.

RECALL - makes it sound like there is something defective with them. Like them cars that had a recall, by that one Japanese car maker.

Just saying!

Anyway this is good news. Hopefully a sign of great times ahead for all.

The 135s are gone anyway aren't they? ATRs leases start running out the end of next year and they have not named a replacement yet, though I hear that is coming. Stuck with scope on anymore 700s for now.

Just good to see movement. Movement at Eagle, AA, and everywhere in between. Something positive to report after a long 2 years of negative.

Holy crap. I have to be senior to be glad my company has movement? How long do I have to be here before I can use the restroom too?
