Pacific Wings

Let me start with:

Pacific Wings SUCKS.

New Mexico Airlines SUCKS.

Georgia Skies SUCKS.

No wait...

Pacific Wings, New Mexico Airlines, and Georgia Skies are the 3 (and 1) most unsafe passenger operations in the United States. It's a shame they can hold onto their operating certificate(s).

I would have interviewed with them, but they told me that they'd be glad to interview me the next time I found myself in Hawaii! Heck no... that screams bad operator there.

To top it off, I have a friend that made CA at New Mexico Airlines who got FIRED for REFUSING to FLY IN SEVERE ICING CONDITIONS.

That's right.... Pacific Wings, Georgia Skies, and New Mexico Airlines put their passengers lives at risk by intimidating their employees to fly into unsafe conditions.

'nuff said. Don't work here, don't EVER buy a ticket on this airline, if you value your life.

I was the FO that night your friend was fired. I backed her up all the way. Though they never did ask my opinion or ask if I would fly the route by myself (I was PIC qualified). They just tanked us both.

I counted at least 30-40 people company wide that were fired in my 18 months there. One day they fired 8 or so folks in Hawaii because of union rumors. God knows those guys need one.

Or people get a clue and move on from these operators that drag the aviation profession down.

I looked into PW when I was getting close to my commercial. Wasn't a JC member at the time and didn't know anyone that knew anything about them. When I found out the paygrade, didn't even give them a second look. Few year later, reading through this forum, glad I didn't give it a chance. I wish people knew they were worth more then that magical turbine PIC.

Its the company themselves. They come on to the forums and/or numerous news articles that bash pacific wings, then they post these things. Everyone pretty much sees through it though. Look up the Alamogordo news.. the Athens, GA news and you will find this stuff. They have to stand up for their company that way. Sad isnt it?

Very sad, but it's not the first time I've heard of a company doing this kind of stuff to try to do damage control for their bad practices.

I had five buddys out of Athens get stood up like a firing squad, "I'm talking about making them come in on their day off, in their uniform and fire them outright". I have seen some pretty crappy companies, but the story behind that fiasco tells me to give them a "super wide birth". I also saw one of their caravans run 12hrs a day every day for 2mths with the nearest mechanic to Athens Ga. in Hawaii.

Sorry to hear about your buddies in AHN...I heard that story through the grapevine and hoped it wasn't true. I used to fly for Wings Air out of AHN and stayed as far away as possible from PW/Georgia Skies.

I've also heard stories about people "marking" the Georgia Skies aircraft at night...

you guys sure are harsh on PW... They gave me over 1000 hours of turbine time. It wasnt all fun, but it is in Hawaii.... How can you complain about that? No the pay wasnt great, and there was some drama, but whatever... I got my turbine time... Now I'm moving on to fly jets at my new job. It's gonna be hard to beat hawaii...

One will get you fifty that if Dough does some of his DNS magic this turns out to be from bigwig.pacificwings.godaddy.com.

What say you, Dough?

With that SN, one has to wonder if he/she is here to stir up trouble...

I know like 50 of you have shared opinions and first hand knowledge on why not to go there but I'm going with the one guy who posted something positive about his experience. With a screen name and post like that.. hes gotta be telling the truth. Resume sent!!

:sarcasm:

Well, gee golly willikers... I'll head on over right now with a resume in hand. Nothing beats Hawaii!!!

Well, my friend that I posted about earlier who got hired at PW was just fired.

I won't share the details, sorry, but I wanted to reiterate the fact that this company is scum.

Do they have EAS contracts or something??

Every time a pilot accepts a job at PW....god kills a kitten.

Every time a pilot accepts a job at PW... other employers see it and wonder, "well if they will work for pennies there, I guess I can lower my pay/benefits and make my schedules EVEN crappier!"

I interviewed there (New Mexico Airlines) in 2009 and was offered a CA position in the Caravan. After reading these forums and learning what the pay and schedule was like, I turned it down. I was a 1,200 hr CFI at the time and ACHING to get some real flying and even I was able to see that THAT PLACE crosses the line. I only hope every other newbie pilot sees that line too!

(I waited 4 more months and landed a 135 job making literally twice as much with CASS Benefits and plenty of room to upgrade)

DON'T CONTRIBUTE TO WHY OUR INDUSTRY ALREADY SUCKS SO MUCH!!!!

yup.. all EAS contracts. sorry to hear about your friend. not surprised though.

Not saying they are good or bad, since I don't work there or know anyone there, but apparently they must be doing something right. I have been keeping a watch on the EAS contract bid for Athens and Macon Georgia in hopes of getting a foot in the door somewhere and the DOT just re-awarded the Athens contract to Georgiaskies and put the Macon bid back out for re-bid until November 1. If they are as bad as everybody makes them out to be, it would seem like the FAA and DOT would be getting some of this same feed back and select a different carrier or take some type of certificate action against them. I know that the FAA pretty much shut down the cargo operation I was interning at a couple of years ago, and I don't think they were no where near a bad as Pacific Wings is made out to be. Also, Georgia is not the only new hubs that Pacific Wings other DBA companies have taken lately, Kentucky and Tennessee also received new EAS contracts last year with Kentucky Skies and Tennessee Skies.

Georgia Wings painted "boots" on a Caravan. I saw them myself in BNA one night after an Atlantic line guy pointed it out. That's about all you need to know.
