Aviation has changed forever today. No more "Position and Hold". From now on you'll "Line up and Wait".

Big deal? What if your the only one around, do you form a line of 1? Is it line up on the runway?

I haven't used it yet, but have lots overseas.

Not that big of a deal.

A lot of you guys weren't flying when the ARSA became Class C, TCA's became Class B, etc. Now THAT was a pain in the rump.

Line up and wait? Small fries.

I was hoping I'd get "position and hold" today. I didn't, but I heard some on SFO tower. To me, "Line up and wait" just sounds like an instruction from the biggest guy in a prison shower.

USA! USA! USA!

:yeahthat: I had quite a few students back in the day that learned to fly, all the way through XC's back in the day but didn't finish... Trying to remove what they had learned in the past and teach them about the new classes was a real pain. I learned a lot about the old school days too though

You mean, when they changed the airspace classification from something meaningful to something meaningless...

TIPH is dead; long live TIPH!

"Behind landing traffic, line up and wait, behind." You get that a lot in Europe as well and they want the read back to be the same. Yes, they want behind before and after.

I got the LUAW today, but then tower also told another plane "traffic holding in position."

And? You were doing that weren't' you?

What was he supposed to say? "Traffic has lined up and is waiting"?

I'm sorry if everyone's perfect little world has been turned upside down with this drastic change in phraseology.

Get over it.

If it's that difficult, just wait until your first merger/acquisition! :)

Arbitrary-change-a-polooza.
