His Last ExpressJet Flight

Don't forget the difference between "Pushing" a button, and "Mashing" a button.

Sounds like the southern guy we have in class.

"What are the cabin altitude/rapid depressurization memory items?"

"Well, ya put your mask on, uhh, establish crew communications, look up and check the cabin altitude and rate...if THAT ain't good well then ya reach up and mash that switch..."

That went over well. :D

Congratulations to whoever it is!

Wish we didn't have to remain so anonymous... stupid litigious society.

Congrats on whoever it is. I'm jealous. Could somebody in the know, post aprox times for the curious?

Actually, "mashing" is the correct Southernjets term, as in, "Son, you gotta mash that button to turn it on."

That's a Southern term period!

It was a constant source laughs at groundschool at QX when I referred to things as "being mashed" or even better the "yaw dampner" (Not damper, mind you).

Earl = oil as in "earl pressure" is a good one too.

My favorite when good ole Norb West said back in 1998:

"When you get ta the jet, son, make sure you do an OHIYUH check just in case something needs to be taken care of before you starts to board. OHIYA's an acronym. O...Check the EARL. H...Make sure you gots hydraulic fluid. I....make sure that interlock is dis'ngaged. O make show you got Oxygen. OHIYUH... EARL, Hydraulics, INNALOCK, Oxygen... don't forget that and you will survive your probationary year on the 72 panel."

"And make sure you mash that oil level button REAL GOOD, it won't bite ya son."

Norb was awesome. I could listen to that guy talk about doing laundry and it'd been a good story.

I guess I'm going to have to teach him what "speed line", "half sweet", "awabs", the difference between eCrew and iCrew, and what "RD/Western/FNWA/Northie/RD/Southie/Yellowbird/Wallybird" mean. And how to throw in a Chicago & Southern joke at an a propos time.

Oh and how to speak USAF, USN, Marine, SAC....

As in the proper time to say, "Damn man, what were you in SAC or something? Calm down bro, 5 ways to skin a cat, Hoss!"

Or how to politely say "Maybe that's how they teach it at the Colorado school for wayward boys!"

lol Did he get on at Delta with you Doug? Congrats to whoever it was
