iPad in the cockpit question...

For those of you who are using the iPad with Foreflight, how do install the iPad in the cockpit ? Is there any mount that's usable with a GA aircraft ? What's your experience using it ? I've just bought a 3G iPad, and was trying to figure out a good way to integrate it in the airplane...

I just rest it on my knee. You may want to consider jail breaking your iPad so you can use the SBSettings app to turn off 3G while keeping the GPS turned on. The Apple airplane mode turns the GPS off too. That way you can get moving map on ForeFlight without draining the battery.

And it stays there ?
I see that RAM makes a yoke mount... I might give that a try and will report back.
It's jailbroken and I will download SBS right away, thanks for the tip

If you bought it in Europe, the 3G won't work in the US (in the Americas).
Europe uses the same 3G freq as Asia, but North and South America use different ones.

Mine does not work in Brazil, and the company I have here uses the same freq as At&T

Really ? That's funky because my iPhone 3Gs works in the US and in Colombia on the 3G networks...

The ipad sold in EU it's not the same as in the US not only because of the freqs

the iphone has 4 bands the ipad 3.

In Europe and Asia they use 2100 and 1800

In the Americas 850, 1700 and 1900

the 3G to work needs two freq

My HTC 3G phone does not work in the Americas either, but for some strange reason the LG my gf has from France, which has the same freq as my HTC works fine..

In South America they don't have mini-sims..well you can always cut it out from a normal one like we did

Dude, Brazil must be way behind, we have the iPhone 4 and iPad 3G in Colombia, so we have the mini-sims...
Oh and my iPad comes from the US and work perfectly in France, I haven't tried yet in Colombia, I'll be there next week, worst things I'll use MyWi to tether to my iPhone 3Gs.

T-Mobile in the US uses 1700 and 2100 Mhz for 3G.

Brazil has the mini-sims, but not 3G only.
