ATP housing

Currently I pay $200 per week to stay in housing arranged through ATP. Right now, there are 4 of us that I know of that stay here and the place is set up to hold 6. Based on how much we collectively pay all toghter each month it works out to 3200 per month. I just saw a for rent ad for this unit and it says monthly rent ranges from $978.00 - $1,375.00. Am i missing something here?

Other than that, place is nice and clean...nice kitchen and I hear this is one of the better housing options that ATP has to offer in the network.

what program are you in that ATP charges $200 a week for accommodation? Thats something new! Used to be housing included for the career pilot program students and $300 a MONTH rent for instructors (if they wanted it)

I

I think that's how it works now, I was talking to another student out west and he said it was $200/wk for a shared room.

I am in the 90 day ACPP. The 200/per week only includes electricity. No wifi or cable. Some of the students in the program opted for their own housing. That would have been the smart thing for me to do.

I just want to add that they make sure everything is OK at the unit and there are no problems.

My COM MEL was $200/week for housing at LGB (two weeks worth, better than a hotel room or driving down from the Mugu area...). The apartment was furnished and I bought wifi off the living-there CFI. Other locations, however, may vary.

Furnished. Basic utilities guaranteed (water, garbage, electric). Some locations include more(wifi). I think you would be hard pressed for a decent and safe apartment complex to allow 4 people in a 2 bedroom. Also, there are not many decent complexes that rent month to month. ATP is stuck in a lease with these places and can often have to pay for empty or half empty apartments. It would really surprise me if they actually profit from them.

The housing at ATP is pretty good. In Arlington it was very good. If your place doesn't have internet, you can always get everyone to chip and and pay for like either cable or maybe CLEAR if you're in Arlington for a few months. It isn't worth $200/wk though. You can get a fully furnished, private, ValuePlace hotel room for only slightly more than that.

Do they still provide housing/hotel rooms for guys on their cross countries? What about when they send you to CFI school?

Housing was included in the cost when I went through and they provided hotel rooms everywhere we went on our cross countries.

ouch... no wonder they knocked a couple grand off the price! $200 a week is really expensive. You can get a decent hotel for that price and it would be much nicer than an ATP apartment!

Cheapest one I could find near GKY at least, is this joint http://www.intownsuites.com/

It is $179/wk. I stayed there for 3 weeks a few years back after my wife and I sold our house, waiting to move into our new one. The room had roaches. The door would not lock right. The maid came once a week. There were extremely scary individuals occupying other rooms. After complaints went unanswered, we went to another place.....

$189/wk. No roaches, but odors. Most importantly, seriously scary individuals occupying other rooms. Lots of cops at night.

I did alot of searching and was on a shoestring budget myself. It seemed any extended stay hotel that was decent ran up in the $250-300/wk rates.

Here's a question...

If you go through their program and become an ATP CFI, can your fiance/wife/SO or whatever live in the 300$ a month CFI housing? Or is that no bueno?
