New CFI job

TexasFlyer

Living the Dream (well at least trying to)
While I have no received the written offer yet, I have the verbal offer. It looks like I will be a new CFI at FIT.

Thank you Jet Careers. It was because of you and the great people who post on here that I found out about this terrific position.

Now here's to receiving that written offer in the next 48 hours and becoming a Floridian (always be a Texan in my mind though!)

Congratulations man! I had a really good feeling about this when you were posting about the interviews earlier.

Have fun at MLB. FITA has a pretty good group of people over there. It's a mad house from morning to evening, and tower will appreciate if you know what you're doing on the radio. There's a ton of Nigerian and Turkish students who really struggle to get the English out, so be prepared to jump on your PTT and fix some botch ups! :)

I have over 800 hours in San Antonio Class Charlie (which is also surrounded on three sides by four class Delta's all within about 10-15 miles). And I train Syrians, Pakistanis, Indians, Mexicans, and pretty much anyone else from the United Nations (as I call it) that walks in and has a Passport and TSA approval. So I am pretty good on communications and having a lot of patience with international students (I enjoy teaching international students since it is quite the challenge!).

Still no written offer, but I am told it's coming since my info is on HR's desk to get that out to me. Can't resign and move across the country on short notice without something in writing for peace of mind.

Fingers crossed tomorrow I get the letter, but I'll be hard to reach tomorrow. I have 5 CFI candidates that I need to do spin endorsements for. So that's a lot of spinning in one day! Talk about possibly leaving my present school on a downward spiral!!!

Letter in hand

congratulations man. I am very jealous of you right now! lol, florida is a lot of fun and I am sure you will love it

Thank you to everyone on JC for helping me make a tough decision. But the name of the forum should change to New CFI at TransPac. And that is my final answer

It was a very tough decision. I had a choice to make between two first class schools, FIT Aviation and TransPac. And having a choice is always better than not having a choice. And the final decision came down to one simple factor.

While both schools are stable, have good airplanes, great maintenance, and a solid career path for their CFI's, TransPac shows a greater level of commitment to their instructors.

That greater level of commitment comes out in actions versus just words.
* They put me in a very nice hotel for the evening prior to the interview and let me extend their corporate rate for a couple extra days so I could secure housing in the area (which I did and I have a move-in date for a few weeks out from now).
* They had a formal interview process which shows a great level of commitment in being certain they hire the best.
* They pay a reasonable salary and offer benefits such as health insurance which shows a level of commitment above many flight schools.
* They wanted me to start on the 13th and so did I, but understood logistically that was not the best choice so my start date will be determined over the next couple weeks once a new stands class can be filled with new hires. And this shows flexibility along with their commitment.

So demonstrating that higher level of commitment won me over in the 9th inning! And now I get to show them my commitment to them by relocating to Phoenix and putting in a great effort to pass along the gift of flight to their students.

I'm happy and satisfied now :)
