Comair "big" announcement

Trip... It's not a majority stance. Our MEC reps are making an unpopular decision that they believe to be in the best interest of the company and our pilots. Where it goes from here is still up in the air.. but it's their resposibility to now communicate with us to prove to us why their decision is right for us.

While the proceedings are continuing along a path that you favor... Please stop making assumptions as to the mindset of our 2400 pilots.

As stated previously, if you truly believe that your reps are making an unpopular decision(which I personally find hard to believe), XJT needs to find new reps then. I know its not a proper tool to gauge pilot opinion, but the only place I'm seeing seeing majority support for One list or STFD from XJT AND ASA pilots is this thread on JC.

I will abide by your wish and from here on out say that the majority of both the XJT and ASA ALPA MEC's do not support One List or STFD although the pilot groups do(apparently)

Hey Marcus, I'm going to print up "I'M WITH MANAGEMENT" and "ONE LIST" stickers, which one would you like me to mail you?

Believe it or not, MEC reps DO go against the grain of the pilot group, hence the reason there was a total switch in representation in MEM a while back at 9E. It's possible that the MEC IS going against the pilot's wishes. Unless you're in direct contact with those MEC members AND a good chunk of the pilot group at XJT, there's no way for Trip7 to know for sure. Saying they aren't on an internet message board doesn't make it true.

Either way they go, it sounds like Skywest is gonna have labor strife. Just seems to me that Skywest management would rather have labor strife and no union on the Skywest side of things than labor strife and all three under ALPA.

Being that this has happened so quickly, I'm not sure the reps know what we want.

The entire idea of the system is that you have a representative sample of the pilot group on the MEC, so it's a pretty safe bet that if the MEC thinks something is the best course of action, that the overall pilot group would agree. I think that once your MEC has the time to put out their reasoning for what they're doing, the overwhelming majority of the pilots will agree with the actions taken.

It'd be nice if they'd tell us what's going on. Or maybe they could not schedule meetings with 1 days notice. Or maybe instead they could schedule a conference call. Maybe an e-mail would be nice?

Kinda like the presidential election, right? For the most part everybody agrees with what they do, right?

Sounds like you should call your rep to see what's going on, and maybe ask him why more communications hasn't been taking place. I would bet that they've been very busy, and they're probably working on getting out some more information as soon as possible.

Actually, there was a time in this country when that was pretty much true. It used to be that people would pretty much trust that their President was doing the right thing, even though they might have voted for the other guy. That was before the days of 24-hour news and pundit-palooza. Before things got to be so politically charged and partisan. I hope we get back to that day at some point, but I doubt it.

At the union level, where it's a smaller group of people, many of whom know the reps personally, it's still that way for the most part. Most pilots don't believe their reps are out to screw them, and most pilot groups don't have bitter political divides between one group and another. I would bet that if you polled the XJT pilot group, 85% or more would say that they trust their reps to do the right thing.

What rep? I'm on furlough. I called my last FO rep and e-mailed him. No response yet.

It's been a while since I read the ALPA by-laws but I know you can request a special LEC meeting for the purposes of recalling a status rep if you have so many signatures.

People on here are starting to slip into a state of denial. First I was called a liar and rumor starter when I first posted that the MEC was dropping the one list push. My fellow co-workers blasted me saying my views are full of Kool-aide and not the views of the majority at Acey. Now both MECs have approved going forward with the merger exactly as predicted(which was said to be blatantly false yesterday) with whipsaw protections(koolaide?) But the excuse now is the MEC is behind an unpopular decision.

Once again, I call for a return to reality.

Your views are full of kool-aid and always have been since you got hired with an RJ course and a dream. By coincidence though I agree that it is unlikely sky west will remain non-union for many more years so there is no reason to throw a monkey wrench if the ASA/XJT pilots are protected sufficiently.

If you're gunna launch a personal attack at least get your facts right. Didn't get hired with an RJ course. If keeping a positive attitude and staying in tune with reality is drinking Kool-aide, so be it. I guess the entire MEC is drinking along with me!

Forgive me, I was under the impression that everyone that got hired around the time you did at ASA took a jet course.

My point was you're saying you know what the majority of the EXPRESSJET pilots think. That's what your posts have been insinuating. I stand by my previous statement, and I fail to see how I'm in a state of denial by suggesting you need to either be in touch with all the MEC reps at XJT and a decent chunk of their pilot group in order to substantiate the claims you're making. So, let's get it out there. What ARE your sources for knowing the mindset of the XJT pilots? You seem to know EXACTLY what's going on while guys at XJT haven't been getting communications from their reps. Either you've got some super-duper inside track or you're playing the odds that you're right and blowing up the internet rumors.

I also call for a return to reality, and that would include yourself.

I have to be honest, I've been out flying the last 4 days and have discussed the topic with fellow XJT pilots as well as reading "the pipe," our pilot message board.

On line the reactions are more tepid, a more "let's proceed with caution." However I've found that most of these reactions (from my FOs) are from relatively poorly informed guys. Most have heard a thing here and there, but have gaping holes in their familiarity with our contract, Skywest, the previous purchase attempt, our MEC, etc..

On the crackpipe the opinion leans heavily towards "One list." Although definitely a bee's nest for rumors, the pipe is where we go for information and those who frequent it tend to keep abreast of the goings on at the company.

I've yet to meet anyone who would like to proceed without provisions protecting us from the Skywest pilot group.
