Comair "big" announcement

We are being sold to SKYW in a shrunken form and only a certain number of pilots and f/as will follow. There will be tons of furloughs as Comair will only have about 50 a/c on property.

Source? Chief pilot? Check airman? This didn't come from the gate agent in SLC, did it? I heard that gate agent was ALWAYS in the know about this stuff, and 100% accurate (no joke!)

It will never happen if we believe it will never happen.

That's not hope and change, it's a damned negotiating strategy. WE are a party to this transaction also, and it's not just the shareholders, and if WE stand up and say "One list or STFD," then it's one list or STFD!

EDIT: We, as union members, don't understand our legal rights in regard to this transaction. Management is using our ignorance against us. I can assure you that they're reading this right now, and they're hoping there are more people like you than there are people like me.

If people think the decision-makers didn't get a wake-up call from the labor debacle that is USAirways and America West, y'all weren't awake.

Labor strife on a large scale at a regional will put a lot of contracts at risk. Don't be lulled into believing that contracted flying is safe, guaranteed and you guys hold a lot more cards than you realize.

If "people like me," you mean people that have little faith our union will stand up for anything. Then management is not hoping, they know. I know I'm not the only one who has been blown off more than once when I voice my concerns. It doesn't stop me from trying though.

Interestingly, Skywest management would say that allowing one list would create labor strife. Pilots at XJT would say that without one list there will be labor strife, and guys at Acey? I think they're just ducking for cover :)

YOU are the union.

If your voice isn't heard, clamor for recalls.

It's only speculation based on pilots and fa/s are getting new wings with no Delta Connection logo on them and some pilots have the new hat pins with no DC logo. Guess there's also uniform changes in the works..also that our fleet guarantee expires in early 2011 and that Delta is ready to get rid of some or all of our 50 seat a/c. It's my belief even if we are kept on with Delta, we will be even more down-sized, unless we get more 70/90s but I doubt that'll happen.

Why would they spend over a million on recalls? Move us to DTW? I know we got some of the freedom stuff but why wouldn't they just get rid of it now?

They'll still have a base in DTW but probably shut us down in Cincinnati eventually. If another airline acquires some of our a/c maybe they'll open a base in DTW. Comair is going to shrink even more; Delta doesn't want our 50 seaters. We're not going to grow unless we take more paycuts and I think most of us at Comair are going to say you to management on that one because we took concessions a few years ago for that plane Fred paraded around and look what we got out of it, nothing. Just because they spent millions on a base in DTW doesn't mean that Comair is going to grow as an airline or that there will be no more furloughs.

OK the whole "new wings thing" i've seen the postings around ops-and based on what i've seen and talked to the FA's about-its just to make their uniforms more "single product" like Delta wanted. Mesaba FA's already have this. Their wings look very similair to a mainline Delta FA's- only the logo is missing-yet with the rest of the style of the wings its very easy to overlook that if you dont know any better.

And new new pilot hat pins??????? Are you kidding? Where/when/Huh? Thats not something i've seen. And that would be something i would be impressed that a manager somewhere wanted to dump money into.

But as far as the "big annoucement" that was supposed to happen a few days ago. Well as we all have seen, yet time and time again, BA DUM PSHHH, NOTHING HAPPENED.

Shocker.

Not saying anything may or may/not happen. But good grief. Hope no-one else is still holding their breath-they would be past the turning blue point and probably have passed on by now.

The news I received today is not pretty, and Ive started applying for other jobs already. Sounds like mid-September for an announcement on Comair losing aircraft and furloughs again.

In a twisted world you would take large paycuts in order to get costs well below the other contractors, then take all their flying. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Not what I heard, I heard huge utilization of our current fleet and more recalls to come this January, solid source as well. Strange world...

I'll bet you the truth lies somewhere in this picture.

That was little money to operate through the summer season. Bottom line Comair will be gone by the end of this year. There will be no more recalls, growth or anything good for Comair. :rawk:

From what I have been told look for an announcement around Sept.1st:clap:But I think it will be on a Friday.

"...It's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week. "
