Looking for anything that pays at least $30k/year

How about joining the military or the diplomatic security service. You only have to be 21, have a bachelors and know a foreign language. here's link to their job requirements http://www.state.gov/m/ds/career/c8853.htm

Thanks! I'm actually in the process for applying for a military commission. Since the process takes a long time I'm looking for something temporary.

I never thought about diplomatic security. A couple of years ago I was set on becoming a Foreign Service Officer (which is ridiculously hard to get in), but have since changed my mind.

Well probably not 30K, but you don`t need that to live in Brazil, when I moved there I was looking for a private Portuguese teacher, some told me 80 reais a lesson (2-3 hours), I ended up up going to a Kumon school. There are a ton of places, some private schools like: Wizard, pay around 2000-2500 Reais a month...not much

I will be back in Brazil tomorrow and I will look around, I have applied to teach German and Italian, but all the places told me I need a degree...? I probably speak German and Italian better then any native Brazilian but what can I do?

That's more than many Brazilians get, I'm sure. But it's still pretty mediocre to live on. Might be something to do though for spending money If I wanted to spend a few months there.

That sucks that they wouldn't hire you without a degree. I accompanied a cousin of mine when he went in for a private English lesson (at a supposedly excellent school) and it was terrible for the amount of money he was paying. Did they require a degree in your language or any degree?

If you don't mind looking into the pay I'd appreciate it.

Which languages do you speak? Are they considered "critical" languages by the government (ie, Arabic, Korean, Farsi, Pashtun, etc)? If they are that will get you a job real quick.

You could enlist and while enlisted continue your OCS/OTS application process. With a bachelors degree you'd get a significent rank advantage (E-4 in some cases.)

Portuguese and Spanish. Too common for the government to care.

Thought about that. If I don't get a job in two weeks or so I might enlist.
