DTW Employee Parking

The San Diego thread got me thinking.

I'm heading out to SEA next week for 7 days and was wondering what the length of time we could park in the employee lot was....

I have a DTW employee pass currently, but I'm only there for around 6-8hrs/day, and never overnight. I see pilots and FA's on the bus frequently so I assume you can leave it there overnight for a few days, just wasn't sure what the maximum was.

Any DTW-based crews know?

Thanks!

I've left mine in the MEM lot for a week before, but I don't know about DTW. In MEM, I'm more worried about my car being stolen or stripped rather than towed.

I left mine in the lot during a 24 day trip to Asia two months ago and it was fine.

Thanks for the quick responses Kellwolf and Nick!

Nick- you're the first person I thought of after creating the thread... glad you responded!

That parking lot is going to get a little more crowded soon with us Comair guys moving into DTW in 3.5 weeks.

How long is the process for watching that video for the SIDA badge? Trying to figure out if I can do it during a sit in DTW.

Also, still looking at possibly getting an apartment or something, any ideas? Unless Rex will let me live with him :D

So true. I don't miss it there.

I have left my car for 2 weeks even though the tag says anything over 3 days needs to get a special tag and park in some remote location. I think all the parking cops really care about is if your tag is properly displayed. They won't even realize that its the same car in the same spot unless you drive a Lambo.

Yes, it's a complete joke and a waste of resources.

60 minutes.
60 minutes of cheesey music and guys with mullets walking around amidst Pan Am planes explaining that you should challenge anyone without a SIDA badge? Grand!

Well, it's better than when I worked at MHT and you had to sit in a room with the head badge lady talking to you for an hour about "no piggybacking allowed" and "don't use your badge to scrape gum off the floor."

I'm sure with all the Lambos there it still will be hard to keep track of. Im not too sure if I'd keep mine there though. Unless of course my Escalade is in the shop. :D

Thanks for all the responses!! Much appreciated. I'll just park it in there and take the non-AOA bus over to the terminal.

I just signed a lease with a buddy on a 2 bed/2 bath for $640/mo in the complex I PM'd you a while back. A YIP freight driver lives in here too. Good affordable, mostly safe complex. It takes me probably 15min (depending on construction/detours/idiots) to get to the employee lot from here. I take 94 East to 275 south and jump off on Eureka.

Hey the computer was kinda cool, for the 20 question bank you had to answer! ;)

Definitely a waste of resources and time. Not only did I have to do the 60min SIDA badge text/exam/movie/nap, I also had to do ramp driving so that added another 30ish min onto my time in that room.

You'll have to catch the "Terminal > Westin > Terminal" bus over to the North Terminal and walk a little ways to the badge office.

CRJDriver you moving there? You have any info on hotel/crashpads or anyone else DTW based? I'll only probably need it 3-4 times a month.

Yah, I was planning on moving there anyway for a new job before getting recalled. I'll probably get an apartment with one or two others for a little while at least until I move up the list again and have better QOL.

From what I've heard, most crashpads are in hotels.
