WILD ROSE, WISC. -- A University of North Dakota PA-12 Super Cruiser single-engine training aircraft was damaged in an accident at takeoff early Monday morning.

The accident happened around 6:30 am at Wild Rose Idlewild Airport, Wild Rose, Wisc., about 36 miles west of Oshkosh. No other aircraft was involved.

The pilot, UND aviation faculty member Alan Frazier, was not injured in the accident.

The University reports all aircraft accidents to the National Transportation Safety Board, said UND Director of Flight Operations Dick Schultz.

Glad to hear he is ok. Sad about the plane though. Hopefully it isn't banged up too bad. That thing was/is a looker, that is for sure.

Latest word is that there was loss of directional control on takeoff and the plane impacted a tree. Total loss. Not going to speculate on causes, though.

Really? I heard it went into a swamp, but judging by the pictures, they didn't think it was totaled. Some MX guys flew out there yesterday, so that's probably old info...

Could be...that was what Leslie told us all this morning in 415, but I have no idea where she got that info.

I saw it while taxiing past Charlie ramp today. It was on a trailer outside the MX hangar. Looks alright. Wings are off obviously, but other than that, it's fixable. The guys in MX say it will be repaired.
