Pot Farmin' Pilot

Just curious. Would eight hours joint-to-throttle work with pot? It's been a while since I... uh, I mean, since a friend smoked a joint, and I can't really remember how long it is until it's out of your system. And I mean completely, medically out, not out like you had a couple beers and are cool driving home but you can't legally fly a plane. KnowwhatImean?

Regardless of one's feelings on the legitimacy of pot being illegal, if one is employed in a position (such as airline pilot) that is very sensitive to controlled substances, and in an industry as conservative as aviation, common sense would suggest that one might want to be just a touch more careful in one's selection of side jobs that this particular individual was.

So, I know I risked my very certificates by stating this on a public forum, but I just think the truth is worth more than the 12 grand or so it took to aquire them.

That's kinda sad. I love coffee...one could even say that I need it to function. But if they made it illegal to drink coffee if you're a pilot, I'd let it go because I worked my ass off and paid a lot of money to get where I am. Kinda stupid in my opinion that someone would be willing to risk that just for a high that is supposedly (never tried it) more tame than beer.

No joke man... your certs aren't just worth the 12K that it took to get them... to me mine are worth all of the hard work and determination that it took to acquire them, and the devotion to starting out in an industry in which the initial obstacles are nearly insurmountable.

8 hours from smoking to the cockpit? So does that mean no drinking within 50 ft of the airplane? I think I can handle these new changes!

I don't understand what you are asking.

The guy who I quoted was trying to figure out a funny new limerick in the bottle to throttle vein, and I'd heard this one before, so I was filling him in.

Immediate effects of the drug wear off in 2-3 hours and THC resides in your fatty tissues for up to a month.
