Anyone have a line on a place to stay in Greensboro, NC next weekend (23-27)?

My son is playing in the Score Showcase Tournament and the Team didn't reserve me a room.

I live in Greensboro, so either pm me or answer here.

Most importantly, where are the games being played? Also, how much are you willing to spend? There's some nice places near the center of town, but they're kind of pricey and inconvenient depending on where his games are played.

Let me put it this way - I'm a pilot and Doug's friend...though he claims to be taller than I am.

The Tournament's housing folks at the Airport Marriott for $115 :eek:; I called but no-go on a Crew Discount.

The hotel Marriott gets alot of crew business- and events - so they stay kinda busy and rates reflect as such.

As far as others-possibily a few hotels in the Wendover area could be helpful. I'm not sure what the rates are there- but its more of a center point relative to town and the airport.
 
I agree with NC BE300, any of the hotels on Wendover would be your best bet. Plenty of resturants there too. There are hotels that are closer to Bryan Park but I would not want to stay at any of them.
 
Thanks guys...keep em' comin...Any recommendations on local eateries...no chains - I eat at enough of those with the Captains ("Spaghetti factory?....Uh....Sure I'll go with you.")

I know of a good Thai restaurant, and a good Sushi restaurant if you're interested.
 
Its mostly chains on Wendover. There is TK Tripps, which is a local chain, they are pretty good. I've heard good things about Rearn Thai, even though I have never eaten there. Green Valley Grill and Lucky 32 are good also but not very cheap.
 
I agree with Rairn Thai. Another good place is Stamey's Barbecue on battleground or patterson.
 
Thanks for the tips guys.

I ended up chaperoning the team so the room was paid for by the team. It's always interesting having non-pilots try to organize things...it was like having a bunch of new-hire flight attendants make decisions on eating, etc.

I just sat back and watched the show.
