AFSP & Fingerprint question

I finally made it to the last step as a permanent resident. Now they are asking me to send them fingerprints. Unfortunately the closest print office is like 90minutes away from me and they are asking a ridiculous price of $99 (I already paid $130...).

So I will be dealing with this through local law enforcement. However my flight instructor do not have this fingerprint card (the email I received says he should have!). Where can I find this fingerprint card? Any ideas or any experience on this issue will help me a lot for sure.

I used to collect fingerprints for NATA. If you go through a local law enforcement agency, they should have a fingerprint card. Otherwise try contacting http://www.natacompliance.com/ and tell them your situation. They might be able to send your instructor another card.

AFSP should send your instructor cards if he doesn't have them.

They come stamped with the address and some other stuff already filled out (to help you)

I went through the AFSP program in March for my private, and now I have sent in my N-400 for citizenship so no more 130 bucks per rating!

Good luck with your process, it'll get granted in less than 3 weeks for sure. probably a week and a half after your fingerprints

p.s. I did my fingerprints through the local law enforcement and it was 10 dollars per card. 99 dollars is ridiculous...

Call around to the local law enforcement agencies in the area. Some won't be able to help you but you'll find a couple. It's usually less than $10 or so. Be extremely nice to the person taking your prints, doing ink prints is the worst.

Try calling Wings, LOM. They've dealt with multiple foreign nationals before. Doug Dewald should be able to help you.

My guess is that the $99 prints are probably the digital ones.

In my experience, the digital prints actually take longer for the TSA to process than the ink prints.

I did digital prints and asked the lady to print them on my card because I did not know how to get TSA to receive the digital ones.

cost 10 each and they were processed and approved within 10 days

Thanks a lot guys. For some reason my flight instructor didn't want to help much on this issue. They will be sending the cards to my address and the local law guys will help me out.

But now I am not sure if I want to go on training with this instructor seeing how he didn't help even a bit on this problem unlike what you all did here. Oh well...

OK just a status update. I finally found a local law enforcement that does this fingerprinting process and I got the cards mailed to me. However I got a question. Did you guys mail the fingerprints yourself? I kinda doubt the police will bother with mailing it even if I go there with prepaid package.

When I did mine, my flight school had one of their guys take me to the police station, helped get the prints, and then they mailed them. It was pretty easy, because the school is used to dealing with foreign students.

Are you doing your training at a big school, or what?

I only had to submit requests for Private, Instrument, and Multi.. not commercial or any of my instructor ratings. I'm not sure what the reasoning is for this.

It is not a big one and I think that is the problem. Doylestown, PA - Leading Edge Aviation.

I went to the police station by myself today. They were like we are not TSA approved they will just thrash the application. I insisted on doing it and getting them to mail it. Hopefully this will work I don't really want to drive 90minutes and give another 100 :(
