Would you have done anything?

This took place on a scheduled South African Airways flight bound for South Africa. The guys you see on the video are Argentinian "Hooligans" (Barras bravas) on their way to the FIFA world cup. News reports said the cheering kept going for the mayority of the 9 hour flight along with a general lack of "acceptable behaviour" for a flight (yelling across several rows, loud laughs, banging on the overhead bins etc). The worst part they say was 20 min before arriving to south africa, when the cabin almost breaks into a fist fight between the guys on the video and some other passengers cheering for Chile.

If I was the captain, I would go back there and let them know the Yanks are on their way to stun the world. Then I'd call my buddies with the American Outlaws and have them waiting at the airport for a Greenstreet Hooligans throwdown.

either the FA's have control of the back or not. If they are distrubing other pax and not obeying FA or my commands then they are interferring with a federal flight crew and I am putting the plan down as appropriate and they can fly on someone else and deal with the authorities.

Now if it is a private charter flight and everyone is from the same group then I may be a little more lax on their their celebrations depending on what the FA's are telling me.

I've flown on several commercial flights to and from Mexico that were somewhat like this. Maybe it is a cultural thing, at least in terms of tolerance from the crew. I'm not an airline guy, but if I were, I think I would probably do something about it if things really got out of hand, or carried on for too long.

You can certainly tell they are not American sports enthusiast, you can't have a true American sports celebration without a case of beer and some grilling.

I can tell you there us much much more beer involved in European (and I would presume South American) fans...and its not light beer either, so it can actually get you drunk
