After reading that article, it makes me hate management even more.
It'd be one thing if they declined the voluntary measures to cut costs for management, but if they just saved management $90 million in costs through these voluntary measures, assuming $250k per pilot, that's only $75 million in added labor costs to keep them around. Still leaves an extra $15 million for management to play with, so shame on them.
They parked a fleet of two types with no significant replacement. It sucks but how can you overcome that with out some guys sitting on the sideline for awhile?
I know they parked the DC-8s, what's the other type they parked?
It's too bad that DHL in the US broke up.
UPS could surely have used the 1 billion dollars per year that DHL was gonna pay UPS to haul all its Air packages ...![]()

Because the ASTAR and ABX pilots didn't need jobs.
The sad thing is that those furloughed are obviously very junior and are no where near making $250k....try $65k. Meanwhile UPS is having a record year in gains!!!!:wtf?:
No I agree, it wasn't a good situation for them either, but when DHL went under here they still cut pilots ...
:yeahthat:could not agree with you more. More profit at any cost.Big business = pure evil. That's all there is to it. Pure, unadulterated greed.
You do know DHL still has a US network, they're just not trying to run UPS and FDX out of business, right?
