Looking for a fast airplane

hey guys, the doctor and lawyer im flying for are looking at buying another plane. They want something as close to 200kts as possible, doesn't have to carry a lot of people and budget is 150-200k. Im open for suggestions.

What are you in now? They want single or multi engine? You can get a lot of airplane for 200k...just need to know which way to steer them.

Even though i would like to get a multi i feel like they really dont need it. Most of the trips are about 150-200NM. They had a C210 which they recently sold because before me they had nobody to fly them.

We got our 414 for the $150K area...it's a 74 with a RAM VI conversion. It's a 200-210 kts airplane, it'll go 3 hours with an hour reserve and carry a pilot + 5 pax/luggage.

Could probably find an older Mooney within the price range that would make the speed. I have heard they are kind of cramped though ( never flown in one personally).

I'd say Mooney of later vintage (J model or later). Also, don't count out the early SR-22's and early Columbia 300. For a trip of that length (200 miles), over what I would assume to be Oklahoma and nearby states, you don't need a twin. Might look into a FIKI Mooney for the winter time, but I'm not sure what they run price wise.

Mooney hands down.

A M20M, M20K, or Rocket will get you 185 to 200 pretty quick.

I see ground speeds of 210-220 all day long in my 231.

Not too long ago I sold a nice Bellanca Viking 17-31A with the Lycoming IO-540 in it. It was quite fast, and if you find one in excellent condition they are a lot of airplane for the price - well within your budget.

Paging Waco!

ah hell, I'll throw this out there:

What about a Cessna 310, they seem like an incredible value for the price. Fast as well.

It's the entry level biz plane here in Brazil, most pilots don't like flying it. Lots of companies still have them in their fleet, recently they got lots of SR22s and for Night IFR (you can't fly Night IFR for hire here in a single) they use Be58s.

I think a mooney is nice, but what about the passengers it's really a bit cramped in there...

Of course, for a few hundred thousand more (500-ish) you can get a really nice Lear 25.

Okay, so maybe not "really nice", but it's a Lear 25. It doesn't have to be "really nice".
