Something Missing

I ran across this the other day and thought it was a bit odd. Something, other than the 'B' is missing on this plane, and yes, the prop is turning.

Could easily be that the pilot is ducked low in the cockpit - in a Stearman there is plenty of room for that. Also, I always thought it was odd that many of the pictures I've seen of Waco's from the 20's, 30's show a running airplane with no pilot visible in the craft. Not sure why that was a look they were going for, but there are tons of them.
 
Not the first time I've seen a plane running without a pilot. Probably hungary and needed to go get a sandwich.

I'm talking about the one with "423" on it plus the ones above and below it.

Duster Stearmans with big engines run without them pretty commonly, I don't think they're all like that though. I always figured it was an ease of maintenance thing... I mean you really can't care how fast it goes :P
