UAL and CAL regionals?

Its obvious that UAL and CAL are going to merge who are the regionals that fly for them, add any i missed

CAL
Express jet, colgan, commute air, does chautauqua still fly for them?
UAL
Skywest, ASA, Mesa, Express Jet, Colgan, Shuttle america, TSA

Should be an interesting couple of years

All Republic carriers get dumped, they're competing against United with Frontier and there is no reason to continue to subsidize a competitor.

XJT takes over Republic's lift, both on the CAL and UAL side.

Skywest makes a deal that nixes GoJets and TSA.

Mesa dies a slow painful death and Acey picks up that flying.

Colgan opens a Q base in Denver.

All within 5 years.
 
Whose scope language would prevail? Keeping in mind that the 86 seat monster CRJ-900 Mesa flew was for America West, and thats how it became US Air scope. If the scope stays the same (CAL same) I could see XJT picking up more flying, but if it doesn't then I could see XJT lose much of it's current flying, unless it could open up a 70 seat program quickly.
 
I see now when XJT did that 10:1 reverse split a few years back they were plotting for the long term.... :rotfl:

A 70 seat program will open up quickly. XJT has a new CEO that is not stuck in the 50 seat mindset.
 
I just had a CAIR jumpseater from STL to CLT (I had totally forgot you guys started routes out of there) and he said there are only two ATRs now and the third one was being cannibalized. Sad to hear, but at least the other two are still flying.

Yeah, but that's no worries. The third one was simply used as a spare; no actual flying was lost.
 
the only winners will be skywest and asa, they have a lot of money, which means influence. and also the cheaper regionals. whatever happens you can be sure that majority 50 seat operators will slowly shrink.

Wouldn't call it obvious but....

CAL moved all their equipment in DEN to B concourse (which was previously all United). Now they use the same gates. Where I work, XJT switched its gate to the UAX side and is now handled by SKW/UAX employees. And XJT also picked up UA flying. And in Midland, XJT employees do the ground handling for the UAX/SKW flights.

Like I said, not obvious. But it sure seems like the two companies are trying to "ease" something in...
