was there any crosswind? usually the nose wheel only shimmies if there is a side load on it, either because of crosswind or an out-of-alignment condition, or uneaven tread wear due to poor pilot technique over time.
a little back-pressure will solve the problem, like everyone said, and also proper trim tab setting will prevent it.
p.s. tailwheels also can shimmy if they are improperly adjusted, worn, bent, or are the locking type with a side-load due to crosswind or improper technique, or a combination of these. when it happens to me, it is usually improper technique.
