hey,

I am an american currently undergoing my flight training in florida.
I am very interested in flying for an airline in china such as air china and etc...

Would I as an american, be considered for hire as a direct entry first officer if i finish my training here in america?

OR

Do I have to undergo my flight training in China?

Or

Do Chinese airlines not hire americans at all period???

What is the best path for me to take??

Thanks in advanced!

The only realistic path to an airline in China is as a Captain. There are many companies that recruit Captains for everything from regional jets on up. Type Rating plus 500 hours in type is the usual requirement - and that you must be current.

:yup: That is exactly right and contract jobs of just a few years typically. The Chinese are hiring Cadets off the street and sending them here (to the U.S.) to train. They enter the right seat of a B737 or equivalent with about 250 hours TT and 10hrs solo. Yeah. I said 10 hours solo. I know this stuff because I train them and spend my days surrounded by Chinese guys. Their current upgrade time is 5000 hours and they have been told they will fly 1000 hours per year. This Chinese training explosion started just about 18months ago (right after Indian boom and bust market) so I'm guessing that they will be wanting American Captains for maybe another five years and then those jobs will be filled through the FO upgrades. But who knows! They have so many flippin people over there that they may never have enough pilots.
