Yeah that's what I don't like about this whole logbook pro thing. Like right now I'm on the road so I've only used a laptop to update my times for the past 5 months, but when I get home in a little over a month I'll be using my PC mostly, so that means I have to uninstall it on my laptop to use it on my PC? For a $70+ price tag, there sure are some strange restrictions on it. And if it licenses a 'user' than I don't see why it would be a problem to install it on as many computers as you'd like, as long as only that one licensed user is the one using it.
 
I've got logbook pro too. When I first got it I started putting in each day's flying. But for the previous 12+ years of professional flying I put in monthly times.

Now, a little bit at a time, I go in and replace those blocks of monthly times with the breakdown. My intent when done would be to print and bind a logbook to use for interviews. I keep a little-red book for daily logbook but I haven't updated the old "master log" since I bought logbook pro.

It seems as if the professional license allows for 2 computers and syncs them also. for an extra 30 bucks I see it as not only worth it, but required.

Who wants to volunteer to enter 2500 some hours in Log Book Pro from my paper copy? The experience would be priceless...

that'll take 5 hours of multi for me and I'll do it.

of course that comes with an implied acceptance to a free instruction and time to finish my private and multi.
 
Maybe I'm oldschool, but I really like my old jepp logbook. Its nice to sit down at the end of a day, or pay period, and fill out my log book. I fill it out at ever increasing intervals now that I've broken 2500TT, but still, I fill it out. It feels good. Enjoy it.

I enjoy looking at the finished entries in my paper logbook as well. I love the idea of an electronic logbook but I am so damn paranoid that possible future employers will frown upon it.

The nice thing with logbook is they frequently update their software, and once you buy it you never have to pay for anything again. Free updates for life.

As far as my knowledge of pro, which is what I have been using, is that it works awesome on my laptop, but I don't think that I have tried installing it on more than one computer.

Why would they do that?

FWIW, it's just the same to sit down at your laptop at the end of the day and make entries...and they're equally able to be viewed and admired (at least in the Excel document I use...not sure about any of the other products).

I would recommend Logbook Pro as well, but I still keep a paper logbook. I found the electronic version invaluable when submitting and updating apps. At my last interview (at a major) they liked the printed version of the electronic one but thanked me for bringing the original paper one as well.

Perhaps I have not mentioned how cheap I am. I am currently in the middle of a 16 day trip though and doing a few hours a day. So far i'm up to 4/16/2003. Only another seven years to go. :)

I don't blame ya, I did all my entries personally as well for the same reason. :D
 
I've got the $70 version of LBP, and it's installed on two computers. I only use the one on my laptop since it's a pain in the ass to keep transferring the logbook file over the network, though. Without having the logbook file on both computers, it's kinda pointless to have it installed on more than one. What if you print your logbook out from the one that hasn't been updated in 6 months on accident? :)

I use LBP and APDL. The reason I haven't bought an iPhone yet was because LogTen won't sync with a PC, and it's a royal pain to export to LBP. Apparently, there's a $10 app out that is easier to sync to LBP on a PC, so I'll finally make the jump sometime this year. It's DAMN convenient to log your flights as you block in/block out, then just sync it up to the computer when you get home.

I used to keep a paper backup, but I stopped doing it about a year ago. The whole "finishing a page" excitement wears off after you fill up one of the Jepp Professional size logbooks.....
