Term Life

I've gotten some decent quotes until they find out I'm a CFI. They have also told me I can get decent rates as soon as I quit being a primary instructor.

Try AOPA Insurance (they have a level group policy) and PIC (they have some regular stuff and a group policy). PIC quoted me about $500/yr for 20yr level term individual and about $260/yr 20yr group (but not level).

AOPA Insurance was about $350/yr level 20yr.

I'm 27 and in good health.

You might also try Zander Insurance. They quoted me about $320/yr, then jacked it to almost $2K when we got to the CFI part. They said it would be ok without primary instruction.

Anyone been quoted on term life. Just got a 30 year term quote for $180 per month!!! said it was because I' a pilot

Seems high. I am mid 30's overweight and a professional pilot. State Farm game me 250K for about 80 a month. My policy however, doesn't cover GA flying. It says it must be commercial flying..

Typically you can purchase the same policy with an aviation exclusion rider for less money. It would not cover you in the event of death while serving as a crew member of an aircraft. It is a gamble, but that is the basis of any insurance policy.

I looked a LOT for insurance before our son was born. Giving instruction is the killer, as soon as they found out I wasnt just a commercial pilot, but was giving instruction, the price tripled. But for some unknown reason I never thought about AOPA. Logging in there now!!

Funny, for all the policies I've looked at purchasing, I've never seen an aviation rider that excludes paying on that basis. I also have never been asked about flying, and the rate was never increased because of it. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong.

Every insurance form I have ever seen asks if you fly "other than a passenger" or something to that sort. I would definatly check with your provider, cause if something happens in a plane it may not pay.:dunno:

I had a specifc rider to cover me when acting as a 121 crewmember...
