ORD parking

No Real Usefulness
One of my roommates commutes TO ORD and has to pay for parking every time at $100 a pop (he knows, we have been over this several times). He tried to get an employee parking permit but the parking authorities said that the company has to pay for it. Naturally, the company is unwilling to do this so, aside from separating from the company, does anyone have any suggestions?

So he drives to ORD or flies into for his commute? If he flies into ORD, get a crash pad and take the train.
 
Sorry, I screwed that up. He is based in Knoxville for PSA and lives in Orland Park (spelling?) so he lives in the Chicago area.
 
Do they have free parking in TYS? If so I think he is SOL. So does he have a ORD SIDA badge?
 
I'd say try to find parking somewhere along the blue line - cumberland stop, maybe, where all the crash pads are, and then take the train to ORD. Or, try to find a crashpad operator along the Blue Line and pay them for street parking permits so he can park on the street and then hoof it to he train and then to work. Or, a crashpad operator who has a garage space or something that they aren't using for a crew car and then rent the space.

If I weren't furloughed I'd be able to get some phone numbers but I am 2000 miles away from our old ORD crashpad corkboard.

Either way, don't park at the airport... you could buy a monthly parking pass at a parking lot downtown cheaper than $100 a pop for four four day trips. (or if you are going to spend the money, take a cab or limo... would still be cheaper)

There's no way he can get a pass to the AMC lot?

When we still lived in ORD Bill had to pay for parking in the AMC lot after DL closed their F/A base there, but the airport still allowed him to pay for it and keep his permit for the lot.
 
Thank you all for the info and for the record, he rides a bike with no seat and has every WHAM! album memorized (not saying that being a WHAM! fan is bad but the bike is a little raw):D
 
Call local hotels. Many allow crews to use their lot for about $40-50 a month. You can just take the hotel van to the terminal. When I first started commuting to EWR, I parked at a Radisson if I remember correctly.
