need help

Curious to find out about AMA. I live close to there and would like to find out details about it.

Interested in hiring info, number of trainees, average time to CPC etc.

Thanks:(

PS - I'm new to this, if those are stupid questions - I am sorry.

I don't know anything about the information you seek, but I do know this from my recent trip from California to OKC. It STINKS in Amarillo! Seriously, what the heck is that smell?!

.

It's on the north side of the field, near the approach end of RW 22.

Manure and oil. I love driving through Panhandle petroleum fields.

I think there's a controller from Lubbock rattling around on SM somewhere, if you feel inclined to check it out. Close enough that he might have an idea.

There are 8 trainees I believe and about 2 years to CPC. My BF works there and has checked out on local already. May will be a year for him. Hope this helps.

Is 8 trainees a lot?
They only have about 20-25 employees, so 8 trainees is a significant number. Nearly half their staff isn't certified to control traffic. With few CPCs that doesn't leave many people to actually train the trainees. Which is why it's taking 2 years to CPC there.

I know a guy who CPCed at Dulles in 8 months. A significantly smaller tower shouldn't take more than twice as long unless they just don't have anyone to train the new hires.

Wow. Eight trainees does not sound good. I have a friend who was assigned Amarillo after her geo prefs, and is waiting for a class date.

It might be awhile for her:(.
Thanks

They were told that there would be no new hires for the rest of the year. This could change and is all hearsay. I believe it. You do what you will. It seems to be a great facility. I've met everyone who works there. Good luck.

He could have checked out sooner, they just let him use the hours he was alotted. Don't know why. Less pressure I guess. It's not taking any longer than usual. Also, its an up/down.
