Harrison Ford slammed for 'unnecessary' flights

After this winter Im not entirely convinced Al Gore should be a credible source to explain our environmental issues. I would consider myself a liberal but I don't buy into this carbon footprint, greenhouse gas, end of the earth crapola.

Hmm. The weatherman can barely get the daily forecast correct. What makes anyone think Al Gore can figure out something 100,000 times more complex.

Its just amazing what you can do with some photo editing software and an agenda:D

That isn't too far from reality, have you seen that plane fly? Its insane haha.

But who cares if the guy wants to burn baby seals as a form of combustion to get his lunch? Did they want him to walk? Using a car would hardly be better.

So you are saying I am a holier than thou tree hugger?? You can call me a lot of things, but I am not a tree hugger! :)

My point was, a mod should not be stirring the pot and dividing the membership. Perhaps some won't see what he did as an example of that, but it seemed obvious to me.

I wasn't stirring anything up. People need to seriously relax around here.

Dividing up the membership? Are you honestly being serious? Because if so, that's quite a stretch. If a little comment like that can "divide the membership", then the membership had too fragile a relationship to begin with.

Relax people.

I feel divided from Jtrain after his last, very cruel post. Just for that I am going to make Emily buy her own BBQ when I take her to dinner when she is in town for a conference in April.

I also feel divided from DarrenF because he takes things too personally when we slam on the pinkos. I like him, but there is a chasm because he doesn't like when we point out the vicious hypocrisy of the liberals.

SeatClutcher hates me and Ian has to do whatever she says so I feel divided from him too.

I feel divided from T-cart and Ctab because we can't seem to figure out how to organize a southwest MO/NW AR Meet & Greet.

I feel divided from MJG407 because ever since his promotion he rarely sends me good pron via email which he used to do a lot.

In fact, the only people I don't feel divided from is you and Bigey - because of Honduras.

And Qgar.

Flying his plane simply for the joy and thrill of aviation. Hmmm. . .interesting.

On that same thought, I believe one might think . . .

Kinda like sex I guess. . .why go through the unnecessary act of stroking when you aint trying to make babies!

(Statement worded so as not to draw ire for trying to circumvent the profanity filter. :D)

I was fishing for SC snark...I am kind of addicted to it after all these years and haven't had any directed at me in a while.
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but maybe you can think of this as a challenge: you just haven't been that offensive.

Well they have a point. This is what he was flying to get that cheeseburger.

Please, that has been photoshoped, they don't smoke that bad. Even if they did they are the sounds and sights of FREEDOM.

Somebody please make the hypocritical, liberal, idiot tree huggers go away.

Amen, I wonder how they get to all the protests, especially ones far from their homes? Do they fly? Do they rent a gas powered car, since electrics are still sub 200 miles per charge?

I wonder if they realize how stupid they look when they burn a hummer dealership down or a luxury home sub down? They probably do more damage in one night that those cars / homes could do in a lifetime.

Could have been any number of aircraft. Wiki says he currently owns the following:

Ford owns various aircraft:
de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver (N28S)
Aviat A-1B Husky (N6HY)
Cessna 525B CitationJet 3 (N5GU)
Beechcraft B36TC Bonanza
Cessna 208B Grand Caravan
1929-vintage Waco Taperwing
Bell 407
Cessna Citation Sovereign

I must admit, bro has incredibly good taste in aircraft.

Sure does, Travolta has some good tasted in aircraft too.

.

They actually do smoke that bad. Keep in mind too though, that these models taking off are G-model B-52s, with the water injected J-57 turbojets. When the water is activated, they indeed smoke as much as seen (KC-135A models used to also, as well as earlier model B-52s such as the D, E and F). The current H-model B-52s have TF-33 turbofans which don't smoke nearly as much. The G-models were retired in about 1994-ish just after Desert Storm, so any BUFFs you may have seen taking off/landing after that were the fan-equipped H models.

And I fully agree........it's a sound to behold when the water takes effect.

I'll agree they smoked a lot, especially the the older ones with the J-57, but that photo has been darkened. I spent a lot of years watching them fly in and out of Fairchild before the AF moved them to Barksdale it was never that dark.

Mike you still in bama? Has this thread been sufficiently hijacked yet:D

It may have been darkened, that's a good point you make. But the amount of smoke seems pretty accurate from what I remember.

I wish we were all flying planes that didn't leave so much behind - but I am still going to fly.
