Hey Guys,
Also looking for anyhting in the Soacl area. 1005 hours TT, CFI/CFII and 50 hours Multi. Any leads would be greatly appriciated.
 
Me too... if anyone has any leads in my neck of the woods. Furloughed at the end of January... I'm a 'LAMA' now. I am closer to Camarillo - KCMA. (Simi Valley/Thousnad Oaks area) 2960 TT, let my CFI expire because I remembered my due month wrong - and I must have been busy filling out ID-10-t forms all that month. ~1800 multi, 1500+ Jet FO, ~140 Turbine FO, ~750 hrs. of instruction, etc. etc. etc.

How far south in Socal are you willing to go? I'm not there anymore and most flight schools in the area were seriously struggling (I was in San Diego), but you might want to give a go at KCRQ. There's 3 flight schools on the field (and 1 helo school) and a flying club where you should be able to get into if you have enough dual given. The schools there were slowing down when I left (I worked at Pinnacle Aviation Academy, good school, good people) but you can check them out. It's a fairly high income area so they were still getting walk-ins even though the economy has been in a slump. Hope it helps with your search, sorry I don't have anything specific and all I've got is flight school info.

As far as CRQ goes, none of the flight schools are hiring (Grey Eagle, Pinnacle, Orion) however, the flying club, Pacific Coast Flyers, will let you join the club and become a club instructor for a small fee of 30 bucks a month. The current CFIs there charge around 50 an hour cash. It's up to you to get your own students. The owner holds club briefings every sunday and that usually draws a few newbies walking in the door.

You didn't just do that, did you? I used to work there. If you want to make crap money, never know your schedule while makeing crap money, and deal with constant management changes, then go for it. With what they pay, your either looking at a huge commute, or sleeping in your car to afford the COL in Santa Monica. I worked there for about 6 months and hated everyminute of it. I had to live with my parents (Married and a kid) in order to afford to live while I worked there.

Not recomended unless you have a rich wife, or you still ive at home w/your parents.
