American Jumpseat Question

I heard that American is going to start requiring jumpseaters to check their bags instead of allowing them to carry them on?

Is this true?

Thank you!

Ride on American nearly every week, haven't heard this at all. Most FAs offer to throw my bags in the closet :)

It went into effect a couple of days, and was repealled a day later. Now it is back to normal.

Apparently, AA has a good jumpseat guy now. We're one of the few airlines that DON'T have an unlimited JS agreement with them. He's going to bat for us to get it fixed. Granted, we had to pull the "Oh, sorry. There's already a JSer ahead of you, and the CRJ only has one JS. Yeah, I know there are 30 open seats in the back, but that's the new policy" in order to get the ball rolling.....

He's a personal friend of mine and a stand up guy.

That just sounds like a bad idea. How long would it delay the flight if you get on, then end up getting bumped, and they have to pull your bag out?

Are there airlines that will even pull a bag when you get bumped if you're nonrev or js? I've been told "sorry" when I asked before.
