Ameriflight??

I have no doubt in my mind if you were open to what this community would provide you probably gotten an offer for some free sim time from a random flight school.
Speaking of, can anybody hook a brotha up with some sim time in SLC? I'd sure like to get sharp on the gauges again before bugging Sherri for an interview.

Besides Westminster College, I don't even know who has one locally since OK3 closed up shop. Anybody know if AMF does interviews in SLC, and if so, whose sim they use for evaluating applicants?

One thing I learned over the years is that a good measure of how trustworthy a source of information is can be measured by the inverse of how much effort they put on proving they are trust worthy.

1. If you go back and look, you will see that you have described yourself.
2. If you were sincere, you would have taken the advice and moved along.
3. I am a current 121 Captain. I was away from my airplane for 8 months. (I did fly another airplane for about 145 hours however)
It took me longer than you'll ever get in the AmFlight interview sim flight for me to get it back(in an airplane I have more than 2000 hours in)...but I am probably just an "average" joe.

When it appears that everyone else is wrong...maybe it's time to look at yourself.

......

You come here asking questions, don't get the answers YOU want, and then expect the various posters to prove they are trustworthy.... Ok, that makes sense.:dunno:

I don't have to wonder. I know why people are piling on me. If theres a disagreement, and theres one person on one side, who has zero "cred", and theres 15 people on the other side, with mountains of "jc cred", what do you think would happen? No one posting in this thread are going after me because what I'm saying is wrong. They're going after me because I dare go against someone which those people want to be "in" with. Since I could care less about how many e-friends I get here, I don't mind it........

You're damn right there are tons of people here with JC Cred and they have more than gone out of their way to answer your questions. And yet when you don't get the answers you want, shout..."they're just picking on me...." If you could care less about the 'e-friends' you get, then I have to ask..."Why are you here?" Seriously... There are people working in every facet of aviation who have been helped by many of their 'E-Friends' here at JC. Again, you fail to see that.

You have had multiple Ameriflight Training Captains give you answers and chose to ignore them. You have had multiple 121 F/O's and Captains answer your questions, and chose to ignore them. You have had multiple 91/135 pilots answer your questions, but chose to ignore them. Again....:dunno:

Bumblebee has offered his input as well, but my guess is you will write that off as well.

To quote a personal and 'E-friend' of mine.....

Horse ---> Water ---> Drink......

Harry,

You don't seem like a dumb guy, but I posit that you've a lot to learn about how this industry works. I have only good intentions when I say (I'm from SDF too, "where'd you go to high school?") do yourself a favor and just let it go. Erase your account, lay low for a while, and start over again. We all have really long memories because we don't have a lot to think about most of the time. As a totally disinterested observer but a guy who has run his mouth too much on the internet in the past, let me bluntly tell you that you're digging holes you don't want to try to dig yourself out of.

See, here it is again. You are acting like my posting here has "failed" because I have not achieved people liking me. I don't know how to say this, but I'm not here to get people to like me. I'm here If you have to address stupid crap that I see get posted here all the time. If you have a problem with this, then thats your problem. If you want to add me to your list of "internet users who have hurt my precious ego", then go right on ahead. I think this forum needs more people willing to stand up for the truth, rather than spineless career-seeking one line posters.

If I wanted to build up an e-reputation that I could cash in later for a career advancement, I'd register another account, sell my soul and let people say to me whatever they want, no matter how idiotic or incorrect they're drivel may be.

Look, I asked in anyone could give me information relating to how Ameriflight selects people who are out of currency. The response I got was a complete non-answer that basically related to "I know nothing about your flying ability, but I'm going to tell you what you need to do anyway, but I'm not at all going to give you the information you asked for because I have no idea about that". And I'm supposed to just say to myself "Oh this person is more knowledgeable than me I'll just take that WONDERFUL advice and be grateful"?

Also, I'm have a commercial license. I've flown professionally before. I know what it takes to pass a company training program. I'm not an idiot. I don't need people on the internet who have no idea how I fly telling me I need to do this or that to prepare my skills. I understand you're dying to get to play the "I'm more knowledgeable that you sonny so listen up" card, but please just shut up. And it not just me that it's disrespectful to, it's everybody else on this forum that gets treated that way.

Edit: Also I got a PM from someone who will remain nameless who basically gave me the exact information I was exactly looking for. He said he was interviewed while out of currency yet still made it through. No bs, no condescending, no thinking he knew more about me than I do. Thats the kind of posts that this forum needs more of.

The idiocy you speak of is not the idiocy you suffer from. Instead your problem stems from an inability to see that you're digging yourself a hole so deep, I'm willing to bet you've got people working AGAINST you ever working at Amflight, or any other company. Because you've been a professional pilot, you probably know all it takes is one person calling into the chief pilot while saying, "You DO NOT want this guy here" and they'll never get a job there.

What you also fail to understand is that in trying to get a job, it's never WHAT you know, it's WHO you know. Almost everybody applying to a job can do the actual job, that's never the hard part. The hard part is getting along with the folks you work with.

You've proven on here time and time again that you are not the type of person people want to work with. It's pretty impressive actually, that you've managed to take this from requirements for the job to requirements as far as people skills go.

You have presented none, and I would recommend you work on those prior to working on your currency.

Go ahead and call up Ameriflight and tell them "internet user harry potter shouldn't work for your company". If any company turns me away because I bruised the ego of one of their ex pilots on an internet chit-chat forum, then it's for the best.

Was it from one of your E-Friends?

Oh I'm not doing a thing, holmes, I don't work there anymore.

But a bunch of people that have been telling you the same thing as me DO work there.

But again, you fail to recognize that you have not waltzed into another "internet chit-chat forum," you have walked into a community of folks that are very happy to help you if you're interested.

You're not.

Good luck, holmes.

Would you be the same Harry Potter that provided the information below:

1447 total, 400ish multi, my BFR currency officially ended Jan 31, just a few days ago. My instrument currency lapsed way back in '08. My last flight was one I did in a Seneca (first time in one) back in June '09, which included an instrument approach. I didn't do that bad on the approach all things considered, which is why I'm not worried about making it through training at various places, as long as they'll let me in.

That should help figure things out....

It's not often that I flat out agree with John on a given subject, but he is spot-on with assessment.

Pretty sure it will be easy to figure out who he is as prabably the ONLY person that comes in not current, and out of BFR....:D

oh SNAP! (to quote a great man:D)

I don't really think that these guys are talking about your skills (or lack of) as far as flying. I think that the discussion has turned more towards your attitude. These guys have given you advise on what you should do to make yourself hireable to THEIR company and yet you continue to argue the points that they bring up. These guys are on the inside!

Your attitude is going to hold you back in this industry.

You know you could just add him to your whatever list he keeps mentioning.

Which makes me wonder what Mr. Potter is contributing to this forum and how much longer he should be allowed.

If it is the person I think it is did he also tell you why he was out of currency? Also did he tell you how much time he had and how he had someone walk his paper work in?

To POTTER. Heed the advice given. People are trying to help, and you slap that help back. Thats your decision. But remember, one's persona here.....their "first impression"...is and can be remembered. There are users here who's postings and attitudes on here have gotten them passed by for jobs by people doing hiring who had to deal with them here. One of those people that happened to may even be posting in this thread. Its unfortunate, but true. You make your own mileage.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just ask here:

I have a lapsed medical (1993-1994). I am not current (1993 last flight). I have almost 190 hrs, complex endorsement and have flown airplanes up to an including Mooneys, Trinidads, Commanders (112) and a couple hours of 210 time. I have taildragger time in Cubs, Champs, C-140's.

I haven't flown in a long time, and am unsure if I can get a medical. Should I call Sherri? Do you think my lack of currency and a medical holds me back, or makes me unattractive as a candidate compared to the thousands of other pilots that have tons more experience than me?

Please don't respond if you have either a)been an employee in the past, b)been a training captain in the past, c)currently fly for them, d)currently serve as a training captain for them, e)try and tell me something I don't want to hear, f)try to reinforce my fantasies about internet anonymity.

...and there are some who have had amazing opportunities presented through these forums...along with some who could have, that didn't have the right attitude.

I believe we actually get to see a truer sense of who people are, BECAUSE it seems anonymous. (although it's not)

Sure you should call. Don't ask for Sherri though. I'd ask for Bob in the training department. Tell him all about it.:D

I think Potter should ask for Bob also.:D
