And good job trying to keep that recommendation. A lot of people don't get that concept.
 
Really sorry to hear that! Keep workin at it and you'll get to Dallas... that's where I hope I'm going to wind up eventually too. You can do it!!!
 
Take advantage of the situation. Since so many people simply walked out the door waving their middle fingers, and you didn't, that gives you leverage. Go to work, but if some tool says something you disagree with say "look tool, I disagree and am not doing it. Fire me."

You can do things now - basically whatever you want - and if anyone takes issue gently remind them that they canned you yesterday and they are lucky you are there at all.

Oh...and pick out your worst enemy there. And then take a dump on his desk. I know a guy that did this once. As a girl doing it, you will become a legend.
 
Waco, one slight little correction, otherwise it has a little Obamaism in it that does not suit you well. I have developed an allergy to anything and anyone who starts a sentence with "Look". :D

I'd say: "Hey, toolbag, blah blah".

Is this company closing completely or are they just dumping the fixed wing stuff? IIRC you where working on your commercial - did you finish that?
 
Fixed wing charter is dying all over the country. I was just let go last month from a charter company that had 11 aircraft on certificate back 2 years ago and now are down to 3 and soon to be none. It is a sad state of affairs for the owners who have watched their companies and wealth squandered with this dip in the economy. I feel your pain about the Payroll, when we were figuring out the math on profitability, it was suprising to see 30k a month going out the door in salary before an aircraft is heading off the ramp. And that didn't include rent and bills.

Hopefully doors open for you, I haven't found much since with a glut of pilots out there fighting for a small amount of positions. Maybe its back to flight instructing for me for a while. Good Luck

That bold statement doesn't make sense to me unless the pilots are paid a salary. I thought most pilots flying on demand charter are paid by the hour. How many people received a salary that it was costing them 30k a month?

I can see 30K in slavery, ahhem, salaries going out the door in an operation that probably does it's own MX, sales and all the other gogetters you need to run 12 aircraft... maybe he meant "cost of employing people" to keep the place running? Our on demand Caps where paid by the day, no matter what length their trip was, 1 hour or 9 - all the same + expenses, food & hotels and blah.
 
other than pilot salary cost the company a lot of money per month after bene's...the pilots salary was covered by doing the charter flights...but with such small margins in the charter buisness. With a small charter company everyone needs to be on board and flying...including the DO...if not that is just an extra monetary burden on the company. Which it turned out to be.

The company I was employed by is no longer going to be in the charter buisness, but will continue to have a maintenance shop and FBO As for the Charter dept...it may be purchased or just shut down, the roster of aircraft is currently being dismantled and it will be interesting to see how it all ends up
 
Wow - kind of hard to know whether to send condolences or congrats!

Sounds like you have it all figured out and something good is not far away.
So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that it all works out!

I hope I get some of the same luck this year - the PA31-350 I was flying just got sold from underneath me which sucks. The company isn't flying the Baron so it CFIing for me and even that is slow.
