space dive: beating joe kittinger's historic jump. RED BULL?

Re: space dive: beating joe kittinger's historic jump. RED B

I hope they don't beat his record, would be cool to watch in HD though

Re: space dive: beating joe kittinger's historic jump. RED B

For all intensive purposes, Joe was the first man in space. No one will be that.

Why not? Records are meant to be broken.

As for the Red Bull jump...awesome. No matter what happens, it'll be entertaining.

Re: space dive: beating joe kittinger's historic jump. RED B

I smelled jumping 37 miles away. I hope they are able to! Kittinger's record was made in 1960! I have to look up the exact number, but something like 104,000 feet. The step read "Highest step on earth." Or something close to that. A record that has remained untouched for 50 years is impressive by any stretch of the imagination.

Irregardless of what he said, you understand! :)

That looks awesome! I can't wait to see it.

The first time I saw the motorcycle stunt where the guy jumped up onto the Bellagio sign and then jumped back down, I thought it was some CG trickery. These high profile stunts are just a great spectacle to watch.

It's fine, just don't take spell check for granite. :D

Did those old granite tablets have spell check? :rotfl:

Imagine being the guy who Ceaser commissioned to chisel some large script on the side of the government palace and at the end, mess it up. I imagine the tigers were happy that night.

Yeah, "intentives purposes", "irregardless", also granite. Just playing along, ;).

Now, Irregardless of the thread getting a bit side tracked. I think it’s awesome that Red Bull is sponsoring this. For all intensive purposes the private sector has a lot to offer in the space realm. There are a lot of benefits and technology we have that were pioneered for space, most of which we take for granite. Hopefully they can set some new records and raise the bar.

What is the difference (on your body) between breaking the sound barrier in an aircraft versus doing so with just your body?

If I remember correctly from high school physics, your speed would stop growing at terminal velocity.... correct?
