Pinnacle LGA

Someone in MEM told me you could look up future schedules on delta net so i did it and I found some interesting changes in April

LGA-BGR
LGA-TYS
LGA-CHS
LGA-IND
LGA-BHM
LGA-LEX
LGA-PWM
BOS-RDU

Its not additional flying, and i noticed that RP will be in DTW doing some flights becoming the 6th DCI carrier in DTW but it should make it interesting going forward.

I wonder if our company will even tell us

Those were US Air routes, I wonder if they are planning on the swap

9E does TYS due to it being a mx base. My -200 flights from tys-atl and tys-lga emphasize that. CMR is doing all the GSO stuff since it's a mx base. All the flying is DL's. I enjoy a turn every once in a while in LGA but would never willingly bid there as a crew base. I think we will all see changes and as long as everyone grows and contracts together (DCI) it will simply become the new reality. It's when a company grows at another carrier's expense that the animosity rears it's ugly head. I still have heard nothing beyond the initial rumor about LGA as a base.

LGA-TYS was not a USairways route....

It was up until about 2006.

Kind of interesting that Delta made big plans about putting "bigger planes" on the routes that they were taking over from Airways. Unless 9E is throwing 900s on those routes it looks like more of the same and maybe even smaller as some of that stuff was flown by Republic on the 170s.

BGR is/was a dash 8-100 so a CRJ is actually an upgrade. Now if they go from 3 flights to 2 the capacity will be a wash.

Up here Comair took over BGR-DTW, from 9E, and now they are coming back from LGA which has historically been a OH "focus city"

Its nice to see here that DL is keeping some of the NYC capacity. After COex pulled out, US kept the LGA flights year round, and now with the DL/US stuff a lot of people thought that the LGA capacity would just disappear like all the other capacity has. Even from 2005 when I first started on the ramp to now, BGR has turned into a sad little airport, and if you go back to the early to mid 90s its downright embarrassing what the airport has turned into.

It's probably Shuttle covering routes from Compass. Maybe they're getting some planes shifted from DTW to LGA as well. Question is, who's gonna fill the gaps Compass leaves in MEM if/when they move to LGA? Mainline or XJ/9E? And if they put XJ -900s on it, who's gonna replace those, or are the routes just gonna get trimmed? The BIG question is....has the DOJ even approved this yet?

I wonder if our company will even tell us

I'm not even gonna answer that one. :) The first we hear of anything is when the FA bid packs come out.

More importantly, has the HOJ approved it? :)

HA! Nice!

Compass is closing Memphis and opening LaGuardia. 500 Pinnacle pilots may be being displaced. Mesaba is losing more Saabs. Comair continues to get boned. Delta does battle against their arch nemesis, American, over the damsel in distress: Jal.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE.....

Why would they tell us? I dont expect them to. We get new routes and and cut routes all the time. What makes flying into LGA so different? especially when we alraedy fly in there. I think we expect too much from our company about communication. If we are closing a base, a heads up would definitely be nice. But new routes? changing flight numbers? how does that affect me as a pilot? it hardly does.

Huh? what are you talking about 500 Pinnacle pilots may be displaced?

If they close MSP, the numbers show it would be about 500 guys and gals affected total once secondary displacements are factored in. Guys from MSP would bump people in MEM/DTW/ATL, those people could bump others, those people could bump others, etc, etc. Let's just say, it's not gonna be cheap AT ALL if the company decides to go that route. Imagine paying out displacement "benefits" to 500 pilots.

By the way, NO announcement on a LGA base opening for compass has been announce. Only the MEM base being closed. In fact all the communication so far has been that they will not open a LGA base but try to staff it with a new midwest base. The big rumor is ORD or MDW. Compass would take over every flight from ORD or MDW to LGA and your trip would always start and end with a flight to chicago.

Personally I think it is crazy. With the amount of flying they are considering it would be foolish to not establish a base in LGA. Trying to staff NY based flying without the ability to have reserves actually in NY is crazy.

Those aren't really new cities, Comair has been doing some of those for a while... I know I've done LGA-LEX, TYS, CHS, BHM, etc. Just part of the DCI shuffle.

I can take one guy off that list.. I'll quit before I head to LGA...
