Hey all,

I'm looking for a CFI job or any other flying job, anywhere in the US. Currently I'm just shy of 300TT with Comm ASEL, AMEL, and Instrument, with CFI and MEI. Please PM me if you have any ideas.

Thanks.

What happened, I thought you were set?

UND might be going again this summer as we've got about 100 guys with SJS applying to eagle/colgan/pinnacle/mesaba.

just a question, how did you get all those ratings w/in 300 hours?? i have the same amount of time as you but have half as many ratings! where did you train?

part 141

Allows you to bypass some of the time requirements.

For example, UND and Embry Riddle are 141 schools, you go through a commercial-instrument-multi course and receive Commercial - single and multi land and instrument in about 125 hours or so. Add that on top of the 40-60 or whatever to finish the private and you have 175 hour TT pilots with all kinds of ratings. Getting CFI, CFII, and MEI can be done in very minimal time as well.

Under part 141 it would actually take at minimum 190 hours to get your commercial. Probally around 220-230 to finish all the land ratings.

Oops. I had about 175 when I got my CMEL CSEL IA and 10 hours of that were outside 141 which didn't help me.

Done properly you could have all of those rating while remaining under 260 hours.

edit: part 61...

When I finished school I had 238 hours TT. That was with CFI, CFII and MEI. 67 hours were getting my PPL on a pay as I could process, the rest at ATP. Funny thing was when I got my first CFI job the insurance company told them not to hire anyone that low time to CFI again haha.

Hopefully you won't be but, if you're still unemployed in August/September I would consider applying for an Aerial Survey job at one of the 4 main vendors. If you can stand being away from home for 6-7 months, Air America, Northern States, Landcare, Desert Winds would be good options. Pay, equipment, quality of life and, company policies vary greatly between them. Most of the vendors really prefer guys with low time so they stick around for the entire 6-7 month contract.

If you have any questions about the job, I can answer some. Just PM me.

Thank's guys. I have my app in at HAI so we'll see what happens.

Getting them within 300 hours wasn't too difficult. At 160 I was PPL IR, and that still gave me 90 hours to get Commercial (Which is plenty of time). I think I did my CFI ratings in 15 hours... So.. Done at 265TT. Many people do it in less time, even part 61 it's very doable.

Yea, I'm keeping that in mind. I applied at AA and Landcare last season, but at under 300TT I think I was too low time.
