Eagle

Is Eagle hiring? That seems odd, since they just announced 175 furloughs at mainline AA.
I agree, that is a little screwed-up. I am sure there were some lines that AMR could have adjusted to keep the balance at both airlines so that nobody had to be furloughed. Problem is I don't think the people who create lines really look at how it will affect pilot staffing levels. :dunno:

Yup, they probably could have gone so far as to do it in a manner that wouldn't even disrupt the load factors. But why would they care, employees are numbers to them.

It is certainly cheaper for the company to dump the more expensive tallent and hire a bunch off noobs at a much lower pay scale. Makes perfect business sense. Of course, it isn't good for pilots, but they do have people interviewing so in the end it will work out nicely for them, poorly for us.

AA is furloughing because after the training bubble from parking the 300s they are fat on pilots. AA believed some of the 60+ guys would retire but very few did. Eagle is hiring because we are getting 22 new CRJ and adding flying in MIA/SJU/ORD/DFW.
